Octave launches peer-reviewed WiseMatch Index to match patients with 450K therapists

Octave has launched the WiseMatch Index, a methodology for matching patients with suitable in-network therapists. The index evaluates over 450,000 behavioural health providers nationally using a Clinical Quality Measure that assesses therapeutic alliance, effectiveness, efficiency, and accessibility, alongside patient preferences. The index was independently peer-reviewed by Motive Medical Intelligence. It extends WiseMatch, a platform launched in March 2026 for booking in-network mental healthcare directly through care platforms like insurance directories. WiseMatch currently operates across more than 100,000 providers and is used by healthcare companies representing over 23 million covered lives. Several regional Blue Cross Blue Shield plans are implementing the index to address issues with insurance directories showing unavailable providers.

Octave launches WiseMatch to streamline mental health provider bookings through insurance directories

Octave has launched WiseMatch, a technology platform designed to modernise insurance directories and simplify access to in-network mental health care. The platform enables real-time availability and direct booking within payor directories. WiseMatch addresses a significant access gap, as approximately 40% of patients begin their therapy search through health plan directories, which are often outdated and difficult to navigate. The platform integrates across fragmented behavioural health networks, including electronic health record systems, to provide regularly updated provider information. Tens of thousands of therapists are now connected through WiseMatch via partnerships with mental health practices including Grow Therapy, Rula and SonderMind, as well as behavioural health EHR providers like Valant. The platform allows patients to book appointments whilst enabling providers to manage bookings through existing workflows.

Post thisWith the additional locations, Octave now serves a total of 17 states. The expansion states were selected based on the need for in-network therapists — seven of the 10 new states rank among the lowest in the nation for access to mental health care due to high cost and lack of availability."The key to reducing the critical need for mental health services in the U.S. isn't just about making care more available, but also making sure it's effective. We're seeing too many people dropping out of the system before they see improvement; and on the other side, we're seeing too many people churning within the system and not actually getting better," said Sandeep Acharya, Founder and CEO of Octave."Our model of carefully vetting therapists and delivering consistently high-quality care that's proven to work is what sets Octave apart. We're looking forward to expanding our care model to these new states, and very soon, nationwide," he said.Proven Clinical OutcomesA pioneer of value-based care in mental health, Octave's innovative care model has led to first-of-its-kind partnerships with major national payers
