Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering or industrial laboratory testing
  • 2-3 years of leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) industry, product standards and codes, or product compliance
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders

Responsibilities
  • Implements and executes capacity and capability management under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.
  • Ensures effective workflow by engaging with cross functional leads and customers in order to understand scope of projects and technical needs to assign resources effectively.
  • Responsible for driving process improvements to ensure financial results are achieved.
  • Typically supports local members of a team but may support remote employees in other locations.
  • Drives a high performing team by managing the performance and development of team members.
  • Operates effectively in the UL matrix to actively support and drive high performance culture changes, transformation efforts and people engagement.
  • Holds team and self accountable for results, assists engineering Manager in defining goals and performance objectives and metrics to execute strategy.
  • Develops and coaches by providing, training, career counseling, feedback, guidance to drive high performance and morale.
  • Ensures understanding of and compliance with all established policies and requirements.
  • Increases customer loyalty, anticipates customer needs and provides proactive solutions.
  • Gathers, shares and responds to customer feedback. Coaches and mentors employees to do the same.
  • Supports sales by building relationships with customers, requiring a deep understanding of what is in pipeline, obtaining feedback on how UL can do better, what is working well and identifies actions and solutions.
  • Provides direct support to customers and team by providing technical guidance and engineering judgment to complete projects and address all issues arising needing resolution (i.e.. customer complaints, unusual requests, technical advice).
  • Ensures quality and adherence to policies and standards requirements.
  • Leads and/or participates in discussions to drive business initiatives through brainstorming discussions.
  • Empowers and holds team accountable to find new opportunities to effectively drive growth & financial goals (revenue, profit, enterprise value, etc. ).
  • Delegates Project Handlers to establish the appropriate test programs.
  • Supports and guides project handlers to ensure compliance with requirements, changes in project scope or specifications and customer notifications.
  • Explains UL family of company's policies, procedures and requirements, negotiates completion dates and sample requirements, and ensures an effective experience with the UL family of companies.
  • May handle some projects and/or act as lead reviewer to support workflow and demand.
  • Communicates and exemplifies ULs Vision and Mission.
  • Leads, promotes and embraces change through self and team.
  • Collaborates and builds trust within the organization and with customers to meet or exceed their expectations.
  • Develops strong, flexible cross-functional networks and global relationships to promote becoming the fastest, highest quality and most customer-friendly organization.
  • Coaches and mentors employees to do the same.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

UL Solutions reports Q2 2026 revenue up 5.2% to $816M with 161.9% net income growth

UL Solutions Inc. reported strong second quarter 2026 results with revenue growing 5.2% to $816 million, driven by 6.6% organic revenue growth led by Industrial and Consumer segments. Net income surged 161.9% to $254 million, whilst adjusted net income increased 17.3% to $129 million. The company's net income margin expanded to 31.1%, up 1,860 basis points year-over-year, boosted by the sale of its Employee Health and Safety software business. Adjusted EBITDA rose 11.2% to $219 million, with margin expansion of 140 basis points to 26.8%. Diluted earnings per share climbed 168.9% to $1.21, and adjusted diluted earnings per share increased 13.5% to $0.59. CEO Jennifer Scanlon highlighted the company's alignment with megatrends and strong positioning for the remainder of 2026.

UL Solutions joins Russell indices, opens Toyota City lab to expand automotive testing

UL Solutions opens automotive EMC laboratory in Japan's Toyota City

UL Solutions has opened a new automotive electromagnetic compatibility laboratory in Toyota City, Japan, beginning operations on 1 July. The 2,323-square-metre facility will provide EMC testing to help manufacturers protect vehicles from interference affecting critical systems like braking and steering. The Automotive Technology and Innovation Centre is among few EMC laboratories in Japan equipped for high-voltage, high-current, high-torque and high-speed rotational testing. Its chambers can handle up to 25,000 RPM and power supplies delivering up to 1,500 volts and 1,000 amps. Located in Japan's Tokai region, the facility strengthens UL Solutions' global EMC testing network and supports automakers in the world's third-largest vehicle market, which produced over 8 million vehicles in 2025.

UL Solutions prices $980M secondary offering at $49 per share

UL Solutions has priced an underwritten secondary public offering of 20 million shares of Class A common stock at $49 per share, raising $980 million. The shares are being sold entirely by selling stockholder UL Standards & Engagement, with underwriters holding a 30-day option to purchase an additional 3 million shares. The global applied safety science company will not offer any shares and will receive no proceeds from the sale. The offering is expected to close on 9 September 2024, subject to customary conditions. Latham & Watkins represented both UL Solutions and the selling stockholder, led by Chicago partners Cathy Birkeland and Christopher Lueking. The firm previously advised UL Solutions on its $1.08 billion IPO, one of 2024's largest initial public offerings.

UL Solutions beats Q1 estimates with $758M revenue and 26% EBITDA margin

UL Solutions reported first-quarter results that beat analyst expectations, with revenue of $758 million and adjusted earnings per share of $0.50, surpassing estimates by 1.2% and 21.4% respectively.
