About the job

Requirements
  • An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, engineering, financial engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • At least 2 years of full-time quantitative research experience in high-frequency or medium-frequency trading, electronic market making, or systematic execution.
  • Strong understanding of electronic market mechanics, including order types, matching engines, queue priority, microstructure invariants, liquidity formation, and market impact or adverse selection.
  • Evidence of contributing to strategies used in live markets, including a clear understanding of the research-to-production workflow and sources of performance degradation in deployment.
  • Strong programming and data-analysis skills in Python.
  • Demonstrated rigor in experimental design and evaluation, including the ability to distinguish economically meaningful effects from overfitting, leakage, optimistic fills, and regime-specific artifacts.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze high-frequency market data, including Level 2 and, where available, Level 3 or Level 4 order-book and order-event data, to identify predictive structure and trading opportunities.
  • Develop alpha signals and trading features based on order flow, liquidity, queue dynamics, price formation, cross-venue behavior, and short-horizon market response.
  • Design, backtest, and implement market-making and risk-taking strategies, including pricing, order placement, cancellation, queue-position management, fill-probability estimation, and inventory control.
  • Develop realistic research and simulation methodologies incorporating latency, fees, rebates, market impact, adverse selection, and operational constraints.
  • Optimize strategy performance across signal generation, portfolio or position sizing, execution, and intraday risk management.
  • Work with traders, quantitative developers, technology partners, exchanges, and ECNs to move strategies into production and improve them using live performance and markout analysis.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in C++ or another high-performance language.
  • Experience independently owning a strategy, managing a trading book, or leading a quantitative research workstream.
  • Deep expertise in one or more of high-frequency market making, short-horizon alpha, execution research, multi-venue routing or optimization, or microstructure modeling.
  • Experience across FICC markets or multiple asset classes; outstanding equities specialists interested in transitioning to FICC are encouraged.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, deep learning, or reinforcement learning applied to limit-order-book modeling, execution, or control problems.
  • Research publications, open-source contributions, or substantial internal research artifacts demonstrating a sustained, hypothesis-driven approach.

About the company

JPMorgan Chase runs the largest bank in the United States, which serves households and small businesses as Chase and large companies, governments, and investors as J.P. Morgan. During the 2008 financial crisis it bought the failing investment bank Bear Stearns and lender Washington Mutual, and in 2023 it took over First Republic Bank after regulators seized it. Chase takes deposits and earns interest on credit cards, mortgages, and car loans, while the investment side earns fees for advising on mergers, raising money for companies, trading stocks and bonds, and managing wealth. Formed in a 2000 merger, JPMorgan Chase traces its roots to 1799 and is based in New York City.

JPMorgan bars outside AI agents from customer accounts, citing "rogue agents" risk

JPMorgan Chase is blocking outside AI agents from logging in to or acting on customer accounts, chief executive officer Jamie Dimon said on its third-quarter earnings call. He cited security risks from "rogue agents." "We're not going to allow just any outside agent to come in inside the company because that's just too risky for clients and for JPMorgan," Dimon said. The bank blocks third-party agents that try to obtain customers' banking credentials, but still supports customer-authorized data sharing through open banking providers. Other firms take a looser approach. Germany's Scalable Capital opened its platform to ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok in August, though users must approve every trade. Dimon said JPMorgan is building its own tools to protect customers.

Aztec Group welcomes Jing Wang.

Aztec Group welcomes Jing Wang. 16 October 2026 UK Reporter: Madison Hendrickson Aztec Group has appointed Jing Wang as head of AI. Wang will build and lead the firm's new AI technology and enablement team, which it says is focused on where machine learning and AI can create value for clients and colleagues while maintaining governance, control, and security. In her role, Wang will lead development and delivery of Aztec's AI strategy across the group, working with technology, products, and operations colleagues to embed AI into core operations. Wang joins Aztec from JPMorgan Chase where she served as head of AI products for Chase UK and was responsible for developing the bank's generative AI capabilities and accompanying safety guardrails to bring it into production. Prior to JPMorgan Chase, Wang held a senior AI and machine learning leadership role at Amazon Web Services where she developed enterprise AI solutions for regulated industries including financial services. Wang comments: "In private markets, value is built on accuracy, judgement, and trusted partnerships. AI is most effective when it helps take the weight of routine work away from specialists, allowing them to focus on the insight and advice that make the greatest difference. "I'm excited to be joining at this stage in Aztec's growth and look forward to helping shape that capability and its value for clients." Jason Adams, chief technology officer at Aztec Group, adds: "AI has enormous potential, but success depends on applying it in ways that are aligned to client needs. "Jing has deep technical expertise, product leadership, and experience building AI solutions at global scale within highly regulated environments."
