Glimpse of the Job

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will conduct research in the area of radical SAM enzyme biochemistry and hydrogenase maturation. The selected candidate will employ protein overexpression, anaerobic methods for protein purification, and various bioanalytical tools to assess protein purity and properties. They will also use an array of physical methods including EPR spectroscopy, Mössbauer spectroscopy, electrochemistry, biolayer interferometry, and FTIR to probe mechanistic and functional details. Lastly, the selected candidate may collaborate with other researchers and faculty and prepare presentation materials on their research topics and/or related scientific literature that may be presented to small and/or large groups. 

Opportunities to Contribute

• Analyzes research data, summarizes results, and writes/contributes figures to research papers, articles, publications, and funding proposals.
• Collaborates with other researchers and/or faculty on project objectives.
• Assists with the preparation, cleaning, and safety of the worksite, and ensures routine maintenance of specialized laboratory equipment. 
• Assists, mentors, and/or supervises undergraduate student researchers and/or graduate students working on research related to the project.
• Promotes a safe, compliant, and collaborative learning environment within the research group. 
• Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports for research sponsors. 

Qualifications

• PhD in a related field.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Special Note: Because all or a portion of your salary may be funded by grants or contracts, your continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon availability of these funds in the future.
