  • Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing is required for LPN candidates.
  • LPN candidates must be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Tennessee.
  • CMA candidates must be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.
  • Demonstrate assessment and critical-thinking skills.
  • Demonstrate skills outlined in the Licensed Practical Nurse orientation checklist.
  • Complete required computer-based learning modules and maintain clinical competencies.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient health assessments, accurately document findings, and promptly report unusual data to the nursing supervisor or provider.
  • Assess patient symptoms and problems; administer nursing care in compliance with the medical and nursing plan of care.
  • Deliver patient care and education based on patients' physiological, developmental, environmental, and family learning needs.
  • Administer medications within scope of practice and obtain and handle specimens according to policy.
  • Follow infection-control guidelines and use personal protective equipment appropriately; assist providers with therapeutic and diagnostic procedures within scope of practice.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Provide families or caregivers education on health promotion, safe environments, healthy lifestyles, risk-reducing behaviors, and age-specific care and safety.
  • Evaluate and thoroughly document patient responses to treatments and interventions.
  • Deliver patient care that meets quality-management expectations and use appropriate tools.
  • Complete documentation promptly, thoroughly, accurately, and in compliance with departmental guidelines.
  • Interact professionally with patients, families, visitors, employees, and other care providers; explain procedures and medications in understandable terms.
  • Advocate for patients and help families develop advocacy skills for their child while maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly clinical and patient-care environment.
  • Share knowledge and clinical skills with colleagues to support professional development.
  • Accurately record applicable patient charges to support billing and stock supplies and equipment as directed.
