Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within South Carolina or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required, either American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED certification for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Ability to perform the listed physical job functions, including standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working in confined spaces, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, repetitive hand and arm movements, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, and exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Ability to maintain corrected 20/40 vision, recognize objects at varying distances, discriminate between colors, determine depth and spatial relationships, and maintain corrected hearing acuity.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in a latex-safe environment and maintain tactile and olfactory sensory functions.
  • Ability to be physically qualified for respirator use initially and as required.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care as a partner and adviser, supporting patients and families in managing their health care while respecting their culture, values, needs, goals, and treatment preferences.
  • Apply critical reasoning, clinical judgment, and critical thinking to expedite appropriate care and treatment within the scope of practice, knowledge, competency, and experience.
  • Assist medical staff with patient preparation, examinations, and procedures.
  • Interview and screen patients to obtain personal data and chief complaints.
  • Document patient information, findings, and care accurately and consistently in medical records according to approved policies and procedures.
  • Perform telephone and in-person screenings.
  • Record and report patient-care information and participate in evaluating outcomes of nursing actions.
  • Prioritize and document incoming patient phone calls regarding medications and medical conditions, and review them with providers as needed for orders or changes.
  • Clean and stock examination rooms and other supply areas.
  • Participate in data collection and formulation of patient-care plans for a defined patient population.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of Licensed Practical Nurse experience is preferred.
