Requirements
  • A master's degree from an accredited graduate program in a mental health-related field, specifically Behavioral Health or Social Work.
  • A valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, a U.S. territory, or commonwealth that authorizes independent counseling practice.
  • At least five years of post-licensure clinical experience.
  • Intermediate-level technology and software competency, including Microsoft Suite, internet navigation, smartphone or tablet and application navigation, and video-conferencing platforms.
  • Ability to engage and communicate with military members or children as assigned and respond quickly to emergent situations in varied military installation or school environments.
  • Ability to traverse short and long distances, including rugged, outdoor, uneven locations, steep inclines, stairs, and grass, and work in outdoor weather and other military base conditions.
  • Ability to comply with site-specific requirements, including required immunizations or vaccinations and submission of receipt records when applicable.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship and fluent English proficiency.
  • Ability to develop trusting helping relationships and work effectively with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Successful completion of a National Agency Check and Inquiries clearance, Installation Records Check, Criminal History Background Check, and FBI Fingerprints Check.
  • Some assignments require a Secret-level security clearance.
  • A valid U.S. state vehicle operator's license, unless specifically waived by the FEDSIM Contracting Officer's Representative.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. military vehicle operator's permit for commercial sedans and similar vehicles when required for temporary duty locations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused, walk-around counseling to eligible service members and family members at assigned primary and secondary locations.
  • Perform assessment, brief counseling and consultation, action planning, resource referral with appropriate linkage, and follow-up as indicated.
  • Deliver training and health and wellness presentations and activities as requested or directed.
  • Provide clinical supervision to Tier 1 counselors when assigned and as outlined by the licensing board in the state of practice.
  • Enter counselor activity data daily through a smartphone or web application while maintaining client and service member confidentiality.
  • Cultivate and maintain direct relationships with commanders and personnel within the assigned military unit.
  • Develop effective professional working relationships with the installation Point of Contact, command, and command Point of Contact.
  • Remain visible within the brigade or regiment to maintain access to MFLC services.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with community resources and military populations.
  • Partner with Points of Contact to provide MFLC services addressing brigade or regiment needs while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Provide MFLC responses to critical incidents, surges, and special requests as directed and approved.
  • Flex the work schedule to respond to urgent requests when needed.
  • Manage duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations according to Department of Defense protocol and staff cases with the Regional Supervisor or Regional Director.
  • Communicate with Regional Supervisors and participate in regular individual and group supervision.
  • Share information regarding trends and issues at assigned installations.
  • Participate in regular in-service training, Quality Improvement committees, and other contract activities as assigned or appropriate.
  • Participate in initiatives, studies, and pilot programs as directed by the customer or Magellan.
  • Complete pilot-program certification and training processes, activity documentation, integration of pilot activities into non-medical counseling work, and applicable technology activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
