Requirements
  • Graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs.
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field is required.
  • An unencumbered license and registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State is required.
  • Certification or recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists is required.
  • Basic Life Support Provider certification by the American Heart Association is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification by the American Heart Association is required.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients preoperatively and, in consultation with the attending anesthesiologist, formulate and carry out an anesthesia care plan, including monitoring and recording patient reaction to anesthesia and modifying the anesthetic plan accordingly.
  • Provide high-quality anesthesia care and monitor the patient's physiologic condition as appropriate for the type of anesthesia and specific patient needs.
  • Safely transport patients to and from an anesthetizing location and ensure appropriate care during the postoperative period.
  • Participate in postoperative evaluation, care, and follow-up.
  • Perform additional related duties as a nurse anesthetist within the New York State scope of practice.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Doctor of Nursing Practice or Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice is preferred.
  • One year of experience as a certified registered nurse anesthetist is preferred.
