Requirements
  • Graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs.
  • A Master's degree in Nursing or a related field is required.
  • An unencumbered license and registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State are required.
  • Certification or recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists is required.
  • Basic Life Support Provider certification by the American Heart Association is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification by the American Heart Association is required.
Responsibilities
  • Practice in a collegial care-team model with an attending anesthesiologist and perform safe anesthesia care for surgical procedures for patients across the life span.
  • Evaluate patients preoperatively and, in consultation with the attending anesthesiologist, formulate and carry out an anesthesia care plan, monitor and record patient reactions to anesthesia, and modify the anesthetic plan accordingly.
  • Provide high-quality anesthesia care and monitor patients' physiologic conditions as appropriate for the anesthesia type and specific patient needs.
  • Safely transport patients to and from an anesthetizing location and ensure appropriate care during the postoperative period.
  • Participate in postoperative evaluation, care, and follow-up.
  • Perform additional related duties as a nurse anesthetist within the New York State scope of practice.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Doctor of Nursing Practice or Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice is preferred.
  • One year of experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is preferred.
