  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Must be graduating between August 2024 and June 2025
  • Able to work full time, 40 hours per week
  • Willing to work in a plant environment
  • Willing to work on any shift and able to rotate shifts based on schedule
Responsibilities
  • Managing vehicle fit/finish based on key process metrics from customer feedback
  • Process validation of new equipment build, installation, and start-up
  • Identifying equipment/tooling alternatives
  • Review, evaluate, and diagnose body/frame fit issues that lead to customer dissatisfiers
  • Analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
  • Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
  • Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
  • Provide technical support for specific plant operations
  • Provide direction to engineering support group and vendors
  • Evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment
  • Handle engineering projects
  • Identifying equipment/tooling alternatives
  • Manufacturing process definition, sequence of operations and efficient material flow
  • Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high-quality parts
  • Development and testing of advanced process technology
  • Development and administration of service contracts
  • Working closely with Business Partners to ensure a high level of delivery of facilities services
  • Partnering with GM communities and leading the transformation of workspaces
  • Monitoring and maintaining physical condition of facilities – buildings, roads, grounds, and architectural structure
  • Seeking new technology applications and creative methods for accomplishing objectives
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve facility mechanical systems
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior internship experience in automotive, technology, or manufacturing
  • Technical capabilities (such as dimensional or statistical background, computer skills, experience with various software, knowledge or metrology processes, knowledge of building mechanical systems, etc.) that will aid in problem solving
  • Demonstrates leadership in field of study, extra-curricular activities or service organizations
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data involving multiple variables into comprehensive, applicable insights
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, leading timelines and goals
  • Willingness to ask questions, take initiative and be resourceful and inventive
