Requirements
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing is required.
- Certification as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC) or Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) with a non-obstetrical scope is required.
- A current Illinois Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license is required.
- A DEA license or eligibility is required.
- Basic Life Support certification is required.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems, preferably Epic Systems, is required.
- Ability to document encounters, enter orders, and manage clinical workflows electronically is required.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard clinical systems is required.
- The position requires Spanish and English language proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive gynecologic assessments, including annual well-woman exams, pelvic exams, breast exams, and cervical cancer screening through Pap and HPV testing.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic gynecologic conditions, including abnormal uterine bleeding, menopause and perimenopause, vaginitis, sexually transmitted infections, and pelvic pain.
- Provide contraceptive counseling and management, including prescribing and monitoring appropriate birth control methods.
- Prescribe medications, therapies, and treatment plans within the scope of practice and in accordance with Illinois APRN regulations.
- Deliver patient education on preventive health, screening guidelines, sexual health, and menopause management.
- Perform office-based procedures within scope of practice and privileging, including Pap smears, IUD and Nexplanon insertion and removal, and endometrial biopsy.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate patient care and ensure appropriate referrals for specialty or surgical services.
- Review and follow up on laboratory results, imaging studies, and referrals in a timely manner.
- Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the Epic electronic health record system.
- Ensure accurate coding, charge capture, and compliance with billing and regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to organizational policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support preventive care metrics such as cervical cancer screening compliance.
- Maintain productivity and patient access standards consistent with departmental and organizational goals.
- Meet and sustain performance metrics aligned with nationally recognized benchmarks for quality, access, patient satisfaction, and preventive care.
- Provide outpatient gynecologic care across the lifespan, excluding obstetrics, in collaboration with the care team.
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in women's health or gynecology is preferred.
- Experience in an outpatient or ambulatory care setting is strongly preferred.
