Requirements
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist license is required.
  • An Associate’s Degree in a science discipline is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Three to five years of work experience is required.
  • All staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory therapy and other appropriate clinical interventions for orthopedic and non-orthopedic patients.
  • Perform inpatient and outpatient patient assessment and evaluation.
  • Provide home care services and overnight oximetry.
  • Set up and assist with bronchoscopy.
  • Provide positive expiratory pressure therapy.
  • Collect arterial blood gases.
  • Set up and manage ventilators.
  • Perform bedside pulmonary function testing.
  • Provide noninvasive modality ventilation.
  • Use LTV series ventilators.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Assist with intubation.
  • Assess and support obstructive sleep apnea using STOP-BANG.
  • Use oxygen delivery devices.
  • Use the Portable Oxygen E Integrated Valve Center.
  • Collect sputum specimens using hypertonic saline.
  • Collect sputum specimens via mechanical ventilator.
  • Use a vibratory positive expiratory pressure therapy device.
  • Work with bulk gas systems.
  • Assist with intubation and mechanical ventilation.
  • Use hand-held nebulizers.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a science discipline is preferred.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
