We are looking for a Test Engineer who wants to be part of Tieto Banktech. Tieto Banktech powers some of the Nordics’ most trusted banking systems with secure, reliable, and scalable solutions. The Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) unit is a leading provider of fraud prevention, anti-money laundering, and identity solutions in the Nordics. FCP’s mission is to help keep financial systems and society at large safe from criminal activity.

When joining Tieto Banktech as a Test Engineer 

• Design, develop, and maintain automated UI and API test suites, with a focus on functional, regression, smoke, and integration testing. 

• Develop and maintain UI automation using Playwright and API automation using REST Assured with Java. 

• Build useful API coverage for service behaviour, including positive and negative scenarios, data validation, authentication and authorization, and error handling. 

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and help ensure that test feedback is reliable and actionable. 

• Analyse failures, distinguish product defects from test or environment issues, and report defects with clear evidence and reproduction steps. 

• Work with developers and product colleagues in refinement and planning to identify risks and testability needs early. 

• Continuously improve the reliability, maintainability, execution time, and coverage of test automation. 

• Use AI-assisted tools where appropriate in the automation workflow, critically review their output, and follow applicable quality and data-handling practices. 

Who we are looking for  

We are expanding our Quality Assurance team in FCP. This position requires flexibility, collaboration, and a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement. 

We envision that you have the following background and competencies: 

• Around 3 years of hands-on experience in software testing and test automation in an agile product or enterprise development environment. 

• Practical Java programming skills and experience building clean, maintainable automated tests. 

• Hands-on experience with Playwright for UI automation and REST Assured for API automation. 

• Experience with JUnit and a solid understanding of test design, assertions, test data, and debugging automated tests. 

• Understanding of functional, regression, API, and integration testing, and how to select suitable testing levels for a change. 

• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into a software delivery process. 

• Familiarity with application environments, infrastructure, cloud concepts, and diagnosing environment-related failures. 

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, clear communication, and a collaborative approach to quality. 

• Professional fluency in English.

We also believe you have 

• Familiarity with Spring-based services or Cucumber/BDD practices. 

• Experience with containerized test environments, such as Docker, test data management, or service virtualization. 

• Experience with a CI/CD platform such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps. 

• Background in banking, payments, fraud prevention, AML, or another regulated environment. 

• Interest in evaluating AI-assisted tools to support test design and automation.
