Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study, with a minimum of four years of aerospace design and drafting experience and at least 6,000 hours in CATIA V5.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, present, and write correspondence, blueprints, technical journals, drawings, policies, and procedures in English.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to detailed written and oral instructions and solve problems involving multiple variables.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings and shop operations and processes.
  • Ability to analyze figures, results, or complex data to determine logical solutions to drafting problems.
  • Proficiency operating computer-aided design programs, CATIA V5, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, email, printers, and plotters.
  • Ability to multitask and work accurately and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare 3D models and drawings using CATIA V5 R21 and above.
  • Perform design, drafting, and checking functions and coordinate designs with Project and Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Create sketch-based solids, complex surfaces, assemblies, and parameterized models in CATIA V5.
  • Apply manufacturing knowledge to design metallic components produced through sheet metal forming, subtractive manufacturing, and additive manufacturing.
  • Create details and assemblies across a broad range of complexity within engine- and vehicle-level digital mock-up environments, using local or global coordinate systems as applicable.
  • Operate product lifecycle management software 3DX and use standard configuration management practices.
  • Create 2D drawings and 3D PDFs for detail components and assemblies.
  • Create Model Based Definition using the Feature-Based and Tolerancing Annotation workbench.
  • Develop assembly bills of materials.
  • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing practices according to ASME Y14.5-2018, with 2009 acceptable.
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups, interference checks, and installation assessments.
  • Write Engineering Orders and modify existing drawings.
  • Perform weight calculations manually or using CATIA.
  • Check models and drawings created by other drafters.
  • Assist the shop, customers, and vendors in reading and interpreting SSP and customer drawings to facilitate manufacturing.
  • Create tooling models and drawings.
  • Follow applicable senior policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area using safety standards.
  • Mentor junior employees as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of aerospace design and drafting experience and at least 4,000 hours in CATIA V5.
  • Completion of CATIA V5 courses.
  • ASME Y14.5 certification.

Senior plc awarded multi year Airbus contract for aerospace components. Senior plc (LON:SNR), an international manufacturer of high technology components and systems, has announced today that it has been awarded a multi-year contract by Airbus for the design, qualification and manufacture of various highly engineered Aerospace Standard parts for fluid conveyance applications. The initial production will supply components for both dual and single aisle commercial aircraft platforms, with significant further potential in the spares and repairs markets. Delivery will begin in Q1 2026, from Senior's facilities in Europe. This contract highlights Senior's expertise in designing and producing complex, highly engineered, aerospace components, as well as its ability to secure major business with leading airframers. This award reinforces Senior's strong and extensive experience in product design and qualification, and continued investment in advanced manufacturing technologies. These new product lines will further enhance Senior's capabilities in pressed, formed, and highly engineered standard components. Commenting on the award, Launie Fleming, CEO of Senior Aerospace: "Our teams in Europe have been working hard to develop and qualify these highly engineered standard parts that have multiple applications across the commercial aircraft business of Airbus.
