Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical health record systems is required.
  • Experience with minor surgical procedures is required.
  • Experience with and knowledge of electronic medical records is required.
  • Strong customer service, written and verbal communication, computer, and phone skills are required.
  • The role requires professionalism, attention to detail, multitasking ability, and flexibility to provide coverage as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Record patient medical histories, vital signs, test results, and other information in medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for clinical examinations and assist practitioners with medical and surgical procedures and other patient care.
  • Prepare Mohs paperwork and instruments; assist during procedures; apply bandages; remove sutures; and educate patients on wound care.
  • Maintain clean and stocked examination rooms.
  • Sterilize and prepare instruments.
  • Handle prescription refills as needed.
  • Call patients with medical care instructions and biopsy or laboratory results.
  • Manage electronic medical record documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Provide support and assistance to patients and families.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Scribe notes for practitioners.
  • Answer phones and schedule appointments as part of front-desk coverage.
  • Perform clerical duties including faxing, prior authorizations, patient-results calls, and laboratory and surgical paperwork.
Desired Qualifications
  • Dermatology experience is preferred.
  • Experience assisting with Mohs procedures is preferred.
