About the job

Requirements
  • Extensive experience in data-focused roles such as data analysis, data management, data operations, or business and data product analysis, within financial services or a comparably complex data environment.
  • Deep, practical knowledge of private markets or alternatives data and the businesses that produce it; exceptional data analysts from adjacent domains may qualify by demonstrating that they learn a new business quickly and thoroughly.
  • Experience acting as the primary data expert for a business area or dataset, including owning its definitions and documentation and fielding questions from partner teams.
  • Strong hands-on analytical skills, with comfort working directly with data to profile, reconcile, and investigate using SQL or equivalent query and analysis tooling.
  • Experience translating business needs into data requirements, including attributes, definitions, models, and mapping specifications engineers can build from without ambiguity.
  • Rigor and ownership around data quality, with a track record of driving issues to root cause and closure across teams.
  • Strong written communication and ability to document definitions and decisions clearly enough that others can rely on them without a conversation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across business, operations, technology, and external partners, and to move between detailed data work and senior stakeholder discussion.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and greenfield work, bringing structure where no model, dictionary, or precedent exists.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience; diverse academic backgrounds are welcome.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Alternatives data subject-matter expert for the Private Markets domain and reference point for what data elements mean, where they originate, how they behave, and how they should be used.
  • Build out the Private Markets data model with engineering and architecture partners, defining entities, attributes, relationships, grain, and lineage, including net-new datasets where no prior model exists.
  • Develop and maintain the semantic layer over the data model, covering standardized business definitions, derived metrics, and consistent vocabularies so that data is directly consumable by people, business intelligence tools, and AI agents without re-interpretation.
  • Expand Alternatives datasets to capture business-critical attributes, sequencing coverage by the core business processes and downstream consumption each attribute enables.
  • Partner with engineering in an agile framework to plan and deliver strategic work by shaping epics and stories in JIRA, authoring and reviewing data requirements and mapping specifications, answering domain questions during development, and participating in user acceptance testing and control testing.
  • Connect vendors, fund administrators, custodians, general partners, and other external sources into the platform systematically; onboard feeds in a repeatable way that builds out the Alternatives data core rather than accumulating one-off extracts; and work with partners to interpret and validate data and resolve discrepancies at source.
  • Partner with the Chief Data Office to ensure the domain adheres to firmwide and Asset Management data governance and data strategy principles, including data ownership, classification, quality standards, documentation expectations, and the domain's contribution to enterprise data priorities.
  • Enable client, investor, and management reporting by translating reporting requirements into data requirements, sourcing the underlying attributes, and validating outputs against expected results.
  • Own business-as-usual data issue management and data quality by triaging and investigating root causes, defining and monitoring business data quality rules and thresholds, driving remediation with source and platform teams, and surfacing recurring themes for structural fixes.
  • Ensure data is delivered accurately and completely to the appropriate Systems of Record, and support migration from legacy sources to strategic Systems of Record through mapping, reconciliation, and cutover validation.
  • Profile and analyze data hands-on to test hypotheses, size gaps, and quantify impact, providing evidence that informs prioritization, roadmap, and design decisions.
  • Maintain domain documentation covering data dictionaries, business glossary entries, data quality rules, lineage, and catalog and metadata entries so the domain remains self-describing as it grows.
  • Help scale the platform by identifying reusable patterns and standards rather than one-off fixes as additional businesses, asset classes, and datasets are onboarded.
Desired Qualifications
  • Subject matter expertise in private markets data domains including capital calls and distributions, waterfalls and carried interest, net asset value and performance, commitments and unfunded capital, investor, fund and entity structures, and deal and portfolio company data.
  • Experience supporting Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Credit, Private Equity, or Alternative Solutions businesses.
  • Advanced SQL, Python, cloud data platforms such as AWS and Snowflake, transformation tooling, and data catalog or lineage solutions.
  • Aptitude for AI tooling, particularly applied to data modeling and building reusable skills and agents, and readiness to adopt new tools to execute deliverables and strategic projects.
  • Experience building or contributing to a semantic layer, metrics store, or business glossary serving business intelligence, self-service analytics, or AI consumption.
  • Experience with fund administrator, general partner, custodian, or vendor data feeds and the associated reconciliation and validation.
  • Experience supporting client or investor reporting within an asset manager.
  • Familiarity with data governance concepts including data ownership, reference data and master data management, metadata, data contracts, and controls.
  • High aptitude with agile collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA, and experience working alongside a product owner and an engineering squad.
  • CFA, CAIA, or a similar credential.

About the company

JPMorgan Chase runs the largest bank in the United States, which serves households and small businesses as Chase and large companies, governments, and investors as J.P. Morgan. During the 2008 financial crisis it bought the failing investment bank Bear Stearns and lender Washington Mutual, and in 2023 it took over First Republic Bank after regulators seized it. Chase takes deposits and earns interest on credit cards, mortgages, and car loans, while the investment side earns fees for advising on mergers, raising money for companies, trading stocks and bonds, and managing wealth. Formed in a 2000 merger, JPMorgan Chase traces its roots to 1799 and is based in New York City.

Dimon poached Buffett's protégé Todd Combs to run $10B fund; Buffett: "at least he's going to you

JPMorgan Chase chief executive Jamie Dimon hired Todd Combs, a former Geico chief executive and Berkshire Hathaway investment manager, to lead a $10 billion investment group. Combs joined in December 2025 under the bank's Security and Resiliency Initiative, which aims to help companies accelerate manufacturing. Speaking at a US Chamber of Commerce event in January, Dimon said he called Warren Buffett personally. Buffett "probably wouldn't have preferred it, but he said, 'if he's going anywhere, at least he's going to you,'" Dimon said. Buffett's assistant confirmed the account. Combs had been at Berkshire since 2010 and sat on JPMorgan's board for nine years. His group has already committed $5 billion of its $10 billion allocation.

JP Morgan sees emerging market weight loss drug sales hitting $22B by 2035

JP Morgan expects weight-loss drug sales in China, India, and Brazil to reach $22 billion by 2035, up from $6.6 billion today. Usage remains low: below 0.1% in China and under 0.2% in India, against 4% to 5% in the US. Cost has been the main barrier. JP Morgan says patent cliffs, generic launches, and policy-driven price cuts are making the drugs more affordable. It expects China to pass Brazil by 2027 and reach $13.7 billion by 2035, versus $8 billion for Brazil. India is the smallest market, held back by hesitancy around injections. Eli Lilly, which said it holds about 55% of the international incretin market, stands to gain. Its China revenue grew 93% in constant currency, and it raised its 2026 revenue outlook to $85 billion to $87 billion.

Wall Street fears AI agents will drain bank deposits, but analysts say risk is overdone

Wall Street fears AI agents could pull deposits from banks, but leading analysts and executives say the risk is overblown. Bank stocks have fallen since Meta Platforms launched its Muse personal agent on September 8: Bank of America is down 18%, Charles Schwab 14%, Wells Fargo 6%, and JPMorgan Chase 5%. Agents can compare yields and recommend options, which could erode the inertia that keeps customers' money in place. If deposits move, banks may have to pay more interest, squeezing profits. Analysts Mike Mayo and Gerard Cassidy say trust matters more to customers than slightly higher returns. A Deloitte survey found 72% of bank customers hesitate to share financial data with generative AI tools. Third-quarter earnings showed no clear shift in deposits.
