Requirements
  • The candidate must currently hold certification or licensure through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
  • The candidate must have a bachelor's degree within five years of hire or equivalent experience at the time of hire.
  • The candidate must have five years of relevant experience.
  • The candidate must have leadership experience.
  • The candidate must have supervisory and team leadership skills, including coaching, engaging, and developing coworkers.
  • The candidate must know OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNREC, and JCAHO safety codes, regulations, and requirements.
  • The candidate must demonstrate flexibility in staffing and adaptability to changes in patient care practice.
  • The candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate must know patient safety protocols, infection control, safe radiation practices, and quality control analysis.
  • The candidate must be able to operate basic computer programs used for departmental documentation and record keeping.
  • The candidate must demonstrate independent judgment and critical thinking.
  • The candidate must be able to move from task to task while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • The candidate must be able to stand or walk considerably, regularly lift lightweight objects of 20 pounds or less, and assist with heavier tasks such as lifting and moving patients.
  • The candidate must be able to sustain alertness and concentration during interactive, repetitive, or detailed computer-based work for 40 to 70 percent of the time.
Responsibilities
  • The supervisor coordinates and supervises daily department activities, including personnel, quality assurance, patient care, and regulatory requirements.
  • The supervisor adheres to radiology standards of operation and patient care standards, meets efficiency and productivity standards, identifies system issues, works to improve them, and contributes insight to annual strategic plans and white papers.
  • The supervisor assists with annual budget preparation and monitors expenditures to achieve budget projections.
  • The supervisor serves as a resource for other hospitals, sites, departments, providers, and customers regarding technical-area questions and concerns.
  • The supervisor promotes and develops interdepartmental teamwork throughout the radiology department and hospital.
  • The supervisor works with Purchasing, Central Distribution, and vendors to maintain adequate supplies and inventory for the section.
  • The supervisor assists the manager or director with work review and consults with radiologists as required.
  • The supervisor identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or the reporting of test results, corrects them, or immediately notifies the manager.
  • The supervisor assists with orienting and training new radiology employees as appropriate to their job descriptions.
  • The supervisor assists in training, teaching, and supervising radiology students during clinical rotations.
