Requirements
  • At least 8 years of industry experience, typically at autonomous vehicle, humanoid, autonomous mobile robot, or drone companies, owning the layer between board support package and autonomy.
  • Experience building and shipping platforms on robot fleets deployed into production for real customers.
  • Experience with production-fleet ownership, including over-the-air updates on remote hardware, debugging without physical access, and maintaining reliability against customer expectations.
  • Embedded Linux and board support package expertise, including kernels, drivers, device trees, boot processes, and board support package management.
  • Experience bringing up platforms on NVIDIA Jetson and x86 targets.
  • Experience integrating multiple sensor types at the driver, software development kit, and middleware-wrapper levels.
  • Experience designing and running sensor evaluations covering latency, synchronization, driver stability, and thermal behavior, particularly for GMSL2 and Power over Ethernet cameras.
  • Experience configuring and validating real-time Linux kernels, CPU isolation, interrupt request affinity, and real-time scheduling policies for control-loop jitter budgets at 500 Hz to 1 kHz.
  • Understanding of the interaction between real-time configuration, Data Distribution Service middleware, and zero-copy transport paths.
  • Fluency with Robot Operating System 2 and Data Distribution Service or Robot Operating System middleware internals, quality of service, node composition, and zero-copy transport.
  • Ability to reason about data transport on single-compute and distributed-compute architectures, including shared memory, zero-copy, direct memory access/NVIDIA memory management paths, and network protocols.
  • Experience sourcing, bringing up, and qualifying sensors, compute, and networking on real robots.
  • Ability to own a bill of materials and work with mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Experience designing container images with layer ordering for build cache, multi-stage builds, and minimal runtime images.
  • Experience orchestrating multi-container systems on robot computers.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, artifact and registry management, and versioned release discipline.
  • Experience with over-the-air updates, fleet-scale provisioning, and device observability.
Responsibilities
  • Own the Cell Platform as an internal product, including its roadmap, releases, and relationships with robotics, software, and manufacturing teams that depend on it.
  • Define the platform roadmap and deliver a consistent, reproducible, and performant base cell for internal teams.
  • Remain hands-on with platform development from day one.
  • Hire the engineers who will form the team around the role.
  • Own major product surfaces used daily by factory teams.
  • Influence frontend architecture and developer experience across the platform.
  • Develop technical leadership within the application team.
