About the company

NVIDIA designs the chips and software that power artificial intelligence and sells complete data center systems to cloud providers, AI labs, and other businesses, along with GeForce graphics cards for gamers. Its GPUs, chips that perform thousands of calculations at once, became the main hardware for AI after researchers used them to train the AlexNet image-recognition model in 2012. NVIDIA connects many GPUs with its own processors and networking gear into servers and rack-sized computers, and developers program them through its CUDA software. These systems bring in most of its sales, and it also makes chips for cars and robots. Jensen Huang co-founded NVIDIA in 1993, and it is based in Santa Clara, California.

What believers are saying

  • AI demand is still surging: data center sales rose 117% to $89 billion in the quarter ending July 2026.
  • Stock grants are worth more: shares hit a record in October 2026, up 28% for the year.
  • Engineering dominates hiring: 1,722 of NVIDIA's 2,686 job listings in October 2026 were in engineering.

What critics are saying

  • Big buyers are hedging: Meta's February 2026 agreement covers 6 gigawatts of AMD chips.
  • Financing its buyers is getting harder: lenders pushed back on NVIDIA's $500 billion chip-backed loan plan in October 2026.
  • Staff described long hours: Bloomberg's August 2024 interviews reported seven-day weeks, late nights and shouting matches.

What makes NVIDIA unique

  • Rivals must match its software too: over 7.5 million developers use CUDA and other NVIDIA tools to program its chips.
  • The CEO has a broad direct staff: Jensen Huang says over 60 people report to him, without one-on-ones.
  • People rarely leave: NVIDIA's yearly staff turnover is 3.7%, versus a 21.9% average across the tech industry.

Indian trading apps open US stocks to 46M investors, boosting Nvidia's $4.9T appeal

Indian trading apps are opening access to US stocks, which could widen Nvidia's investor base. Groww, which has 29% of India's 46 million active investors, has launched US equity trading. Its chief operating officer, Harsh Jain, said Nvidia is among the most popular names. Zerodha, with a 15% share of active clients, is beta-testing US stock access and expects to launch within weeks. Angel One, with 6.7 million active retail clients, reportedly plans its own platform. Nvidia has a market value of nearly $5 trillion, so Indian retail flows would need to be large and steady to move the stock. Shares are up 1% over 52 weeks and down 16% from their October 6 high of $243.37.

Nvidia stock could climb after November 17 earnings as $5T giant eyes $108B quarter

Nvidia reports fiscal 2027 third-quarter earnings on November 17, and one Motley Fool analyst expects the stock to climb afterwards. Its market cap tops $5 trillion, and the shares are up nearly 15% in 2026. In the second quarter, revenue rose 106% to $96.2 billion, with data center revenue up 117% to $89 billion. Non-GAAP gross margin was 75%. Nvidia forecasts about $108 billion in third-quarter revenue, against $57 billion a year earlier. Analysts expect about $109 billion. The stock trades at about 23 times forward earnings, against 18.6 for the S&P 500. Hyperscalers are expected to spend more than $1 trillion on capital expenditure next year, supporting demand.

Microsoft's $34B quarterly chip-heavy spending gives Nvidia shareholders fresh reason for optimism

Microsoft's latest results suggest AI spending is still flowing to chipmakers, a boost for Nvidia shareholders. Nvidia shares are up about 13% in 2026, after climbing more than 1,200% over three years. Microsoft reported fiscal first-quarter revenue of $92.3 billion, up 19%, with Azure growing 48%. About three-quarters of its $45.2 billion in quarterly capex went to short-lived assets such as CPUs, GPUs, and networking gear. The company expects second-quarter capex above $50 billion and about $170 billion in calendar-year spending. Chief financial officer Amy Hood said, "We still have demand that exceeds supply." Nvidia's data centre business made up about 92% of its $96.2 billion in quarterly revenue, so it depends heavily on big buyers. Risks include rising debt among those customers.

Corning stock is up 44% in 2026 as AI fibre-optic demand lifts revenue to $5.1B

Corning shares have jumped 44% in 2026, far ahead of Nvidia's 16% return. The glass maker is benefiting from the AI data center boom through its fibre-optic cables, which are replacing copper. Third-quarter core revenue rose 19% to $5.1 billion. Optical communications sales grew 44% to $2.4 billion, and AI-related sales more than doubled. Core net income from that business rose 80% to $532 million. Meta Platforms plans to buy $6 billion of optical products from Corning, and Amazon signed a similar deal. Corning reached $20 billion in annual run-rate revenue a quarter early and targets $30 billion by the end of 2028 and $40 billion by the end of 2030.

Nvidia's $6.9B Mellanox bet made it a networking titan, with $17.5B quarterly sales topping Cisco

Nvidia has become the biggest vendor of datacenter Ethernet, with networking revenue topping $17.5 billion in the second quarter. Cisco's revenue across all products in the same period was $17.3 billion. The rise began in 2019 with Nvidia's $6.9 billion purchase of Mellanox, known for InfiniBand switches and ConnectX NICs. The deal let Nvidia sell whole clusters rather than just GPUs. Dell'Oro Group analyst Sameh Boujelbene said customers value its tightly integrated compute and networking. Revenue jumped after ChatGPT's launch and again as Blackwell GPUs shipped in volume. She estimates NVSwitch now makes up about one-third of networking revenue, up from virtually zero less than two years ago. Nvidia is also licensing its NVLink Fusion interconnect to chip designers such as Marvell, Qualcomm, and Arm.
