Samsung keeps shattering profit records as AI boom lifts chip demand.

Samsung keeps shattering profit records as AI boom lifts chip demand. Samsung Electronics reported an operating profit of 107.4 trillion won and record revenue of 195.3 trillion won for July-September, as demand for AI memory chips drives growth. Samsung said in a statement that it expects the demand for its AI-related chips to accelerate through 2027, outpacing supply as clients race to expand AI infrastructure .(Photo: Reuters) Samsung Electronics said Thursday that its operating profit for the last quarter reached a record 107.4 trillion won (USD 80.5 billion), fuelled by surging demands for its computer memory chips used in artificial intelligence systems. Revenue for the July-September period rose to an all-time high at 195.3 trillion won (USD 146 billion), marking the company's fourth straight quarter of record profit and revenue. Samsung's regulatory filing came a day after domestic rival SK Hynix also reported record third-quarter profit, as the two South Korean semiconductor giants, which together control about two-thirds of the global memory market, face seemingly insatiable demand for their chips amid the global AI boom. Samsung said in a statement that it expects the demand for its AI-related chips to accelerate through 2027, outpacing supply as clients race to expand AI infrastructure. The company said it will focus on supplying advanced memory chips and storage products used in AI servers, including high-bandwidth memory chips, server DRAMs and solid-state drives. South Korean tech companies are making major investments in semiconductor manufacturing facilities and data centers as the country expands its AI ambitions. Samsung and SK Hynix in June announced plans to invest a combined 800 trillion won (USD 599 billion) in a new chipmaking hub in the country's southwest to capitalise on AI-driven demand. But some analysts question whether the spending will ultimately pay off, and South Korea's central bank has warned that the country's trade-dependent economy is becoming too reliant on chips, which it said could deepen the damage of any AI-related downturn. SK Hynix Inc. (SKHY) shares drew investor attention on Wednesday after Rosenblatt raised its price target by 25% following the chipmaker's fiscal third-quarter earnings report. Rosenblatt raised its target to $400 from $320 while maintaining a 'Buy' rating on the stock. According to TheFly, the firm cited a 20% sequential increase in DRAM average selling prices in its post-earnings note. As of this writing, SKHY stock was up over 7% in premarket trading and was among the top-trending tickers on Stocktwits. Shares of other memory chipmakers also advanced, with Micron Technology (MU) gaining over 3% and SanDisk (SNDK) climbing more than 4%. Even Western Digital Corp (WDC) stock was trading more than 1% higher. Rosenblatt sees 175% upside potential for SKHY. Rosenblatt's revised target implies a potential upside of around 175% for SKHY stock from Tuesday's close. The revision comes as SK Hynix expects demand for memory chips to continue outpacing supply through 2030. "We will carry our HBM competitiveness over to next-generation products, and we will also increase the rewards we share with our shareholders as our business outcome and investment result grow," said CEO Kwak Noh Jung. SK Hynix reports record results. SK Hynix reported record third-quarter revenue of 104.6 trillion won ($78.2 billion), up 32% sequentially, while operating profit climbed 38% from the previous quarter to 83.3 trillion won ($62.1 billion). The company said higher sales of server DDR5 products and growing shipments of high-bandwidth memory chips supported its performance. SK Hynix expects its next-generation HBM4 products to surpass HBM3E in both shipment volume and revenue during the fourth quarter. The company has secured long-term supply agreements with 14 major customers, covering more than half of its planned production capacity for 2027 and 2028. SK Hynix sees memory shortage persisting through 2030. SK Hynix expects memory demand to outpace supply through 2030, citing growing AI adoption, the technical challenges of advanced chipmaking and the long lead times required to expand production capacity. The company expects further revenue and profit growth in 2027 and plans to significantly increase investments next year to support rising demand. SK Hynix management also highlighted stronger long-term demand visibility. What retail thinks about SKHY stock. On Stocktwits, retail investors' Sentiment around SKHY stock improved to 'extremely bullish' from 'bullish' a day ago amid high user message volume. So far this year, SKHY stock has declined over 13%. By comparison, the Roundhill Memory ETF (DRAM), which holds SKHY, MU, WDC, and SNDK stocks, has risen nearly 82% during this period. Intel to report Q3 earnings as chip stocks continue to rebound.

Intel to report Q3 earnings as chip stocks continue to rebound. Computer processor maker Intel (INTC) will report its third-quarter earnings after the bell Thursday, as chip stocks continue to recover from an AI-driven rout over the last month. Intel shares fell more than 20% over the last month, while Micron (MU) and AMD (AMD) have dropped roughly 10%. Nvidia (NVDA) is off about 3%. The earnings report comes after memory chip maker SK Hynix (SKHY) reported strong results with revenue skyrocketing 328% to some $78.7 billion, with operating profit jumping 632%, helping to ease concerns about the AI trade. For the quarter, Intel is expected to report earnings per share (EPS) of $0.40 on revenue of $16.5 billion, according to Bloomberg analyst consensus estimates. The company reported EPS of $0.23 and revenue of $13.6 billion in the same period last year. NasdaqGS - BOATS Real Time Price - USD Intel corporation (INTC). 95.53 +1.79 (+1.91%) At close: 4:00:00 pm GMT-4 91.44 -4.09 (-4.28%) Overnight: 10:28:44 pm GMT-4 Intel's Intel Product segment, which includes sales of its data center and PC processors, is expected to come in at $15.5 billion, with PC chip sales coming in at $8.8 billion. Data center sales are projected to be $6.6 billion. AI is driving strong demand for Intel's data center central processing units (CPUs), prompting the company to increase its capital expenditures as it looks to build more manufacturing facilities to meet customer demand. At the same time, the PC industry is struggling as memory and storage price spikes force companies to raise laptop and desktop prices, lowering overall sales volume but raising average selling prices. Intel's Foundry business, its chip manufacturing arm, is expected to generate $6.1 billion in revenue, a potential 44% year-over-year increase. Intel's foundry business is reportedly beginning to sign big-name customers, with The Information reporting that Google (GOOG, GOOGL) placed an order with the company to produce 3 million of its custom Tensor Processing Units. Nvidia is also reportedly in talks with Intel to build its chips. According to Reuters, Intel is also in discussions with SK Hynix about a deal that could see the memory chip maker lease space at Intel's Ohio manufacturing facility.

SK Hynix revenue tops 100 trillion won as it plans 100 trillion won shareholder payout

SK Hynix reported third-quarter revenue of 104.6 trillion South Korean won, passing 100 trillion won for the first time as demand for artificial intelligence (AI) memory grew. The chipmaker announced the results on an earnings call on October 27, 2026. Long-term agreements now cover more than 50% of its 2027 and 2028 capacity, which gives it steadier cash flow and clearer demand. The company plans to return about 100 trillion won to shareholders for fiscal 2026. That includes at least 30 trillion won in cash dividends and at least 60 trillion won in share buybacks and cancellations, including the 40 trillion won announced in August. In the fourth quarter, High Bandwidth Memory 4 (HBM4) is expected to pass HBM3E in both shipment volume share and revenue.
