Requirements
  • Must have successfully completed the academic requirements of an educational program in occupational therapy approved by the appropriate governing board.
  • Must possess a current Occupational Therapy license from the state of practice.
  • A current license from the state of practice is required.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Must demonstrate the clinical competency, experience, training, and education required to perform the job.
  • Must have the ability to become proficient with computer software applications commonly used in an automated patient care environment.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients' functional abilities and limitations, determine whether intervention is needed, establish plans of care and treatment goals, complete comprehensive evaluations, identify limiting factors, collaborate with patients and caregivers, initiate discharge planning, and recommend additions or modifications to referring orders.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans, provide skilled treatment, assess treatment effectiveness, modify plans of care as indicated, involve patients and caregivers in treatment decisions, and educate physicians, nurses, patients, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Document evaluations, treatment techniques, patient progress, and reassessments according to departmental and regulatory standards and within established time frames.
  • Communicate patient information, evaluation and treatment results, and progress to physicians, nurses, patients, caregivers, coworkers, and the interdisciplinary team; contact physicians for problem-solving and support treatment rationale with standard practices or current literature.
  • Adapt assignments to caseload, scheduling, and staffing needs; assist in other patient care areas and accept responsibility for patient care needs.
  • Direct and delegate COTA, therapy technician, and student personnel; participate in training and orientation of new personnel; and verify personnel competency before delegating tasks.
  • Participate in department and facility process-improvement activities and meet departmental productivity standards.
  • Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and applicable professional standards.
  • Provide customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating the organization's core and leader behaviors.
Desired Qualifications
  • Additional related education and/or experience is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience as an Occupational Therapist in the specialty area, preferably in an outpatient setting, with experience within the past 12 months is preferred for Foundation Registry and Travel positions.
