About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Information Security, or a related field, plus 8 or more years of experience in technical solution architecture and enterprise sales, business development, strategic consulting, technical consulting, or a relevant/prioritized industry; equivalent experience is also accepted.
  • Preferred: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Information Security, or a related field, plus 12 or more years of experience in technical solution architecture and enterprise sales, business development, strategic consulting, technical consulting, or a relevant/prioritized industry; equivalent experience is also accepted.
Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end technical strategy for complex strategic partnerships, connect architecture to commercial and execution choices, maintain the integrity of customer outcomes, and make decisions under ambiguity.
  • Bring broad credibility across cloud infrastructure, applications, data, databases, security, and artificial intelligence, with depth in enterprise IQ, generative and agentic systems, platform engineering, and scaled artificial intelligence architectures; lead directly or mobilize specialist, engineering, or delivery expertise as appropriate.
  • Translate customer priorities into measurable business outcomes, adoption milestones, consumption growth, and a credible commercial construct while balancing customer value, technical feasibility, delivery capacity, risk, competitive position, and Microsoft economics.
  • Challenge conventional approaches with evidence and articulate the strengths, trade-offs, and business consequences of Microsoft and competing platforms in light of customer industry context, constraints, and differentiated value.
  • Build durable relationships with business, technology, finance, and operations leaders, communicate complex choices clearly, establish executive sponsorship, and earn the mandate to lead consequential transformation decisions.
  • Model artificial-intelligence-native work using Copilot and agents, help customers redesign priority workflows for human-agent collaboration, and embed security, governance, Responsible AI, observability, and change adoption into transformations.
  • Mobilize cross-functional teams around an outcome-led plan, clarify decision rights and ownership, manage dependencies and conflict, apply quality gates and workback rhythms, and drive execution from qualification through transition.
  • Help customers establish the operating model, skills, governance, and adoption approach needed to sustain artificial intelligence transformation; create feedback loops and turn learning into reusable assets, improved tools, and stronger execution standards.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer business and technical executives, secure sponsorship for priority outcomes, and lead strategic cloud and artificial intelligence opportunities from qualification and origination through commercial commitment, execution readiness, transition, and early value realization.
  • Create preference for Microsoft with an outside-in industry and competitive perspective, challenge assumptions, translate customer constraints into transformation opportunities, and position a differentiated Intelligence + Trust platform strategy.
  • Own technical strategy across cloud foundations, applications, data, databases, security, and artificial intelligence. Shape architectures for enterprise IQ, agentic systems, and scaled artificial intelligence adoption, designing in governance, Responsible AI, sovereignty, resiliency, observability, capacity, and operational readiness.
  • Identify high-value business processes for human-agent reinvention and determine when deep Forward Deployed Engineering engagement is warranted. Co-design production solutions with Engineering Studios, industry experts, delivery teams, and partners while building customer capability, ownership, operating models, and continuous improvement into the engagement.
  • Develop the customer value case, technical narrative, transformation roadmap, and consumption plan. Connect workloads, capacity, services, investments, and milestones to measurable outcomes and support a credible commercial construct, forecast, and path from commitment to consumption.
  • Orchestrate the Strategic Partnership Lead, account team, specialist and success organizations, Engineering Studios, Industry Advisory, delivery teams, partners, finance, deal desk, and product engineering around an outcome-led plan. Establish ownership, quality gates, workback plans, and decision rhythms, then hand over while preserving customer context, delivery accountability, and consumption momentum.
  • Own the technical quality of strategic MACC and partnership constructs by shaping Frontier workloads and embedded services, testing assumptions against customer readiness and competitive alternatives, planning capacity and investments early, and protecting the path to ACR growth, renewal, and realized customer value.
  • Act as Customer Zero for Microsoft’s artificial-intelligence-enabled selling and consumption-planning practices. Use and improve agentic tools, standardize repeatable methods, capture product and process feedback, publish reusable intellectual property, and coach the STL community so that learning scales across Microsoft.
Desired Qualifications
  • Relevant technical certifications in cloud technologies, solution architecture, or a related domain, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, or equivalent industry certification.

Citi's Radke: AI splits software into winners like Microsoft and losers like Adobe

Citi's Tyler Radke says AI is splitting software into winners and losers. Radke, co-head of US software equity research, told Bloomberg Television that AI is lifting growth at Microsoft, Palantir, and Snowflake. He expects Microsoft's revenue growth to top 20%, up from 18% in the quarter ended June 30. Office costs under $100 a month and bundles security and Copilot, while rivals charge hundreds of dollars, leaving room to raise prices. Adobe and smaller application vendors face pressure as IT budgets shift to AI, he said. Salesforce agreed to buy Braze for $47.50 per share in cash. Radke questions whether Salesforce can speed up organic growth after half a dozen large deals. If financing stays costly, he expects scale to decide who survives.

Xbox's non-gamer CEO cuts thousands of jobs in a bid to save the $21B gaming unit

Asha Sharma, 38, who had no video game experience, became Xbox chief executive in February, replacing Phil Spencer. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella picked her to turn around the $21 billion business, where profit margin sits near 3%. Sharma has cut 1,868 jobs as part of a plan to reduce headcount by 3,200 over the next year. She is also consolidating studios and shifting money to top franchises such as Minecraft and Blizzard titles. She plans a next-generation handheld by the 2027 holiday season and a new console by the 2028 holidays. Xbox also plans to overhaul Game Pass. Some observers wonder whether Microsoft is preparing Xbox for a sale or spinoff.

Cash beats debt: stronger balance sheets sit closer to 52-week highs in all five pairs

Companies with more cash than debt are holding up better as inflation hits 3.7%, the 10-year Treasury yields about 5.1%, and US oil tops $100 a barrel. An analysis of five industry pairs found the stronger company sat closer to its 52-week high in every case. In four, debt made the difference. Microsoft, with $20 billion of net cash, is 1.8% below its high. CoreWeave, with $46 billion of net debt, is 56.3% below. Exxon is 0.4% below its high, against 35.6% for American Airlines. Nucor trails its high by 4.9%, while Celanese trails by 30.8%. Alphabet is down 14.4%, while Charter, with $96 billion of net debt, is down 57.0%. Costco and Nike are the exception: Nike's gap stems from falling sales, not debt.

CAS brings 150 years of curated science into Microsoft Copilot for pharma and chemical R&D

CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society, has made its CAS Connections tool available in Microsoft Copilot. The connector gives Copilot users access to the CAS Content Collection and CAS Newton, an agentic AI built for science. It targets pharmaceutical, life sciences, and chemical research teams. The tool brings more than 150 years of CAS-curated scientific knowledge into the apps where they work. A chemist in Microsoft Word, for example, can confirm a compound's CAS Registry Number and check reaction conditions. An analyst in Teams can check whether a substance appears in patent literature. "Scientists, patent teams, and business analysts can easily access this trusted information directly within Copilot," said Chantrelle Nielsen, principal product manager, Copilot Platform, at Microsoft. The connector is available in the Microsoft Marketplace.

Microsoft reportedly weighs 20% Azure cost cuts as AI spending hits $175B

Microsoft is reportedly weighing cost cuts of at least 20% at Azure, its cloud unit. Azure President Girish Bablani asked senior leaders in his roughly 11,500-person unit to find the savings, according to reports. Microsoft denies that Azure leadership has directed teams to develop cost-cutting plans. The reports come as AI infrastructure spending pressures margins. Microsoft expects about $50 billion in capital expenditures for the first quarter of fiscal 2027 and roughly $175 billion for calendar 2026. Demand remains strong. Fourth-quarter revenue rose 18% to $90 billion, and Azure and other cloud services revenue grew 43%. Microsoft shares are up 10% this year.
