Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician.
  • A valid non-commercial driver's license or commercial driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • The ability to read and interpret documents and follow instructions, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision after receiving proper instructions.
  • The ability to deal with problems involving at least one concrete variable in standardized situations.
  • The ability to pass a physical examination and drug and alcohol screening.
  • The ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds, with close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment for work in confined spaces.
  • The physical fitness to free-climb 300 feet multiple times per day while wearing more than 25 pounds of climbing gear and work in extreme weather conditions.
  • The ability to rescue a teammate anywhere in a tower during an emergency.
  • Employees climbing wind turbines must use a Personal Fall Arrest System and comply with its maximum weight capacity of 309 pounds, including the individual, tools, uniform, and personal protective equipment; climbers may not exceed a personal body weight of 260 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Temporarily serve as the person in charge or team leader for the respective work team and provide leadership and technical direction.
  • Maintain routine activities to keep wind turbines operational using basic drawings, schematics, and work procedures.
  • Independently support troubleshooting and repairs for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems at a site.
  • Generate and complete relevant paperwork, including work order cards, checklists, and AWP documents.
  • Recognize wind turbine error codes and appropriately report issues.
  • Assist in all areas of site operations.
  • Assist with high-voltage system maintenance and repair.
  • Lead and perform routine preventive and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbines involving mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Lead and perform unscheduled maintenance involving troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Follow company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Assist with or lead the removal and installation of wind turbine mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate degree is a bonus but is not required.
  • Personalized and ongoing training.
