Requirements
  • The candidate must have 3–5+ years of finance or accounting experience, with a significant portion spent working within the United Arab Emirates.
  • The candidate must have hands-on knowledge of United Arab Emirates value-added tax, including return preparation, tax point rules, exempt versus zero-rated supplies, reverse charge mechanisms, and Federal Tax Authority filing procedures.
  • The candidate must have working knowledge of United Arab Emirates Corporate Tax, including registration, filing obligations, deductible and non-deductible expenses, and Small Business Relief provisions.
  • The candidate must understand United Arab Emirates Free Zone entity structures, including the distinction between Free Zone and Mainland entities, Qualifying Free Zone Person conditions, and the tax treatment of cross-border and domestic transactions.
  • The candidate must have experience managing customer invoicing in a business-to-business services environment, including correct value-added tax documentation, multi-currency invoicing where applicable, and proactive accounts receivable management.
  • The candidate must be familiar with United Arab Emirates banking practices, including account operations, payment processing, trade finance basics, and relationship management with local and international banks.
  • The candidate must have experience preparing management accounts and financial reports independently, without reliance on a large finance team.
  • The candidate must be proficient in accounting software such as Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • The candidate must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and be comfortable building financial models, reconciliations, and reporting templates.
  • The candidate must have a relevant professional accounting qualification or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • The candidate must be precise and detail-oriented when preparing financial records and tax filings.
  • The candidate must be proactive and self-managing, identifying issues, deadlines, and risks and raising them with leadership before they become problems.
  • The candidate must understand the business implications of financial information and provide finance input that supports decisions.
  • The candidate must handle sensitive financial and commercial information confidentially.
  • The candidate must explain financial positions and compliance obligations clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • The candidate must manage competing deadlines involving month-end, value-added tax filing, payroll, and audit work.
Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day accounting, including the general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close processes.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements, for leadership review.
  • Own United Arab Emirates value-added tax compliance, including return preparation and filing with the Federal Tax Authority, maintenance of supporting records, reconciliation of value-added tax accounts, and management of voluntary disclosures or Federal Tax Authority correspondence where required.
  • Manage United Arab Emirates Corporate Tax compliance, including tax return preparation, registration obligations, deductibility assessments, and coordination with external tax advisors on structuring or technical positions.
  • Maintain understanding of Free Zone tax considerations, including Qualifying Free Zone Person status, qualifying income rules, nexus requirements, and implications for business activities and entity structure.
  • Ensure correct application of Economic Substance Regulations by maintaining required documentation and filing notifications or reports as needed.
  • Manage customer invoicing in line with contract terms, ensure correct value-added tax treatment on customer-facing documents, and track receivables against agreed payment terms.
  • Oversee accounts payable by processing vendor invoices, verifying value-added tax treatment on purchases, managing payment runs, and maintaining supplier records.
  • Manage banking relationships by maintaining bank accounts, executing payment instructions, monitoring cash positions, and coordinating account opening or facility requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts and provide leadership with visibility into cash position and working capital requirements.
  • Support the annual audit by liaising with external auditors, preparing schedules and supporting documentation, and ensuring timely completion.
  • Manage payroll processing by coordinating monthly payroll inputs with Human Resources, ensuring accurate and timely salary payments, and maintaining Wage Protection System compliance.
  • Process, verify, and settle employee expense claims in line with company policy.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting by working with department leads to compile annual budgets and producing rolling forecasts.
  • Advise leadership on the financial implications of commercial decisions involving customer contract structures, pricing, payment terms, vendor agreements, and headcount changes.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and documentation in line with United Arab Emirates regulatory requirements and company policy.
Desired Qualifications
  • A recognized professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA/ICAEW, CPA, CMA, CIMA, or CA is preferred.
  • United Arab Emirates Federal Tax Authority value-added tax compliance diploma or certification is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a technology, information technology services, or cybersecurity business, including familiarity with subscription or retainer revenue models, project-based billing, and service contract structures.
  • Experience managing multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange exposure, particularly contracts denominated in United States dollars, United Arab Emirates dirhams, and Saudi riyals.
  • Familiarity with transfer pricing concepts and intercompany transaction documentation where group structures exist.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, particularly for entities preparing statutory accounts under International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Experience supporting investor reporting, due diligence, or fundraising processes from a finance perspective.
  • Familiarity with other Gulf Cooperation Council tax regimes, including Saudi Arabia Zakat and ZATCA electronic invoicing, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, or Oman.
  • Experience implementing or improving financial systems and processes in a growing business, including enterprise resource planning selection, chart of accounts design, or finance process automation.
