Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience as an engineer in the nuclear power industry, specifically supporting environmental qualification (EQ).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings, background checks, and annual motor vehicle record reviews per company and client policies.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and/or review environmental qualification file updates.
  • Prepare and/or review calculations to support environmental qualification file updates, including material aging analyses, post-accident operating time calculations, and component heat rise calculations based on applicable electrical parameters such as voltage, resistance, and current.
  • Prepare and/or review updates to license basis documents such as the Updated Final Safety Analysis Report.
  • Prepare and/or review environmental qualification evaluations to support justification of the operability of qualified components beyond their qualified life until the next opportunity to replace the component.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers in environmental qualification.
  • Potentially participate in and support client peer reviews, expert panels, and Nuclear Regulatory Commission audits.
  • Lead environmental qualification projects consisting of a small team of engineers by providing technical direction to team members and status updates to the project manager.
  • Interface with discipline and client counterparts to ensure project understanding and support business development.
  • Travel approximately 10% as needed.

  • Experience with 10 CFR 50.59 screening and evaluations.
  • Previous experience as an environmental qualification Program Owner at a nuclear plant.
