Requirements
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Understanding of core networking protocols and an aptitude for network engineering.
  • Familiarity with scripting, such as Python.
  • Basic understanding of the Linux operating system.
  • Ability to solve problems and analyze issues effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland; work visa sponsorship is not provided.
  • Must be able to complete a six-month onsite internship on a full-time schedule.
Responsibilities
  • Work with a mentor to design and test network topologies, validating the functionality, performance, stability, and scalability of networking features and products.
  • Write and execute test plans to verify all aspects of features and products and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Identify defects and validate their resolution.
  • Conduct test plan reviews to solicit feedback and identify customer-centric use cases.
  • Strengthen knowledge of network design, routing, switching, and IP addressing.
  • Gain hands-on experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols, including TCP, UDP, IP, BGP, OSPF, and STP, as well as cloud network design and related technologies.
  • Use scripting languages to automate elements of the testing workflow and test at scale.
  • Apply structured testing approaches across functionality, performance, stability, reliability, scalability, and interoperability.
  • Apply troubleshooting methodologies by diagnosing encountered issues.

Arista Networks commits $9.7B to parts despite seeing only two quarters of customer demand

Arista Networks has reported its first $3 billion quarter and raised its 2026 revenue guidance to $12.6 billion. However, the company's purchase commitments have surged to $9.7 billion from $3.6 billion a year earlier, nearly matching its trailing-twelve-month revenue of $10.5 billion. These multiyear commitments cover chips, memory, and components for AI infrastructure. Yet customer visibility extends only two quarters ahead, whilst the industry-wide shortage prompting these agreements is not expected to clear until 2028. Inventory has risen to $2.5 billion, and gross margin fell to 63.4% from 65.6% year-over-year. Management projects margins between 62% and 64% for the fiscal year, factoring in supply chain cost increases. The company holds approximately $13.3 billion in cash and marketable securities to support these commitments.
