About the company

Samsara makes connected cameras, sensors, and software that let organizations with vehicle fleets and heavy equipment track and manage their field operations in one system. Its flagship AI dash cams watch both the road and the driver and warn about phone use or tailgating as it happens, and fleets use the recorded video to clear drivers of blame after crashes. Devices in vehicles and on equipment send location and engine data to a cloud dashboard, where managers plan routes, schedule maintenance, and log drivers' hours. Customers range from trucking firms to city governments, and they pay subscriptions priced per vehicle or asset. Samsara was founded in 2015 and is based in San Francisco, California.

What believers are saying

  • Growth holds at scale: Samsara's yearly recurring revenue rose 30% to $2.1 billion in the quarter ending August 2026.
  • Profits add stability: after years of losses, Samsara has been profitable for four straight quarters through August 2026.
  • Remote work is the norm: 205 of Samsara's 238 open jobs in October 2026 were listed as remote.

What critics are saying

  • Stock grants swing hard: shares fell 46% between December 2025 and February 2026, then recovered to $41 by October.
  • Its main rival gains on big accounts: Motive reported nearly 60% large-customer revenue growth in September 2026, versus Samsara's 38%.
  • Remote work skips early-career hires: all seven intern, co-op, and new-grad openings in October 2026 require three office days weekly.

What makes Samsara unique

  • Its CEO and CTO have done this before: they sold Wi-Fi startup Meraki to Cisco for $1.2 billion in 2012.

  • Its founders call the shots: they and their families held about 77% of shareholder votes in April 2026.

Samsara's disposable Tracking Label named to TIME's Best Inventions of 2026

Samsara Inc. (NYSE: IOT) said its Tracking Label has been named to TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 in the Logistics category. The disposable Bluetooth label, introduced in June, gives businesses near-real-time visibility into shipments across carriers. The label relies on the Samsara Network, millions of connected vehicles and devices on 99% of major US roads, to detect its signal and report its location. Carriers need not take part. Each label lasts 45 days and contains no lithium, so it can travel by air, ground, or rail. Cargo theft costs US businesses as much as $35 billion a year, while many shippers still rely on barcode scans that can be days apart. Samsara recently passed $2.1 billion in annual recurring revenue, up 30% year over year.

October 15, 2026 at 12:08 p.m. TIME honor follows Tracking Label recognition as Fast Company's Next Big Things in Tech and FreightWaves' AI Excellence in Supply Chain Award SAN FRANCISCO - Samsara Inc. ("Samsara") (NYSE: IOT), the pioneer of the Connected Operations(R) Platform, today announced that the Samsara Tracking Label has been named to TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 in the Logistics category. Introduced in June as part of Samsara Shipment Visibility, the disposable Bluetooth label gives businesses near-real-time visibility into shipments across carriers, extending the reach of the Samsara Network to high-value shipments, packages, and pallets. Cargo theft costs U.S. businesses as much as $35 billion annually, yet many shippers still rely on barcode scans for shipment visibility, with location updates sometimes days apart. For companies moving pharmaceuticals, electronics, and other high-value goods, a shipment can be stolen, delayed, or misrouted long before anyone knows to intervene. Those gaps also make it harder to catch everyday exceptions, such as a missed handoff or a shipment headed to the wrong address. The Tracking Label lets teams see what happens between scans so they can prevent delays, avoid misdeliveries, and respond to potential theft before problems escalate. "Our customers shouldn't have to wait for a missed delivery to learn that something went wrong," said David Gal, VP of Product & Engineering at Samsara. "We're putting the reach of millions of connected devices to work for a single box. The Tracking Label makes that visibility simple to access, and the AI-powered Shipment Center helps teams decide which shipments need their attention. That means more time to solve a problem before it reaches the customer." Powering the paper-thin label is the Samsara Network: millions of connected vehicles and devices traveling across 99% of major U.S. roads. Those devices detect the label's Bluetooth signal and report its location without requiring carrier participation. Using infrastructure already in place makes it possible to deliver that visibility through a low-cost, single-use label. Shipping teams activate labels with a single tap in the Samsara Shipment App and manage their shipments in the AI-powered Shipment Center. Rather than manually monitoring every shipment, teams can focus on those automatically flagged for attention and respond to weather-related delays, diversions and other disruptions. Each label has a 45-day battery life and contains no lithium or hazardous materials, allowing it to travel by air, ground, or rail and be disposed of without special handling. For DCL Logistics, an early adopter that manages fulfillment and carrier handoffs for high-value cargo, that visibility addresses a longstanding limitation in freight shipping. "I think it's revolutionary for the industry," said Dave Tu, president of DCL Logistics. "The transportation industry is hungry for more data and in more real time. This is something that the world has been asking for and needing and this is the perfect time for Samsara Tracking Label." Samsara recently surpassed $2.1 billion in annual recurring revenue, up 30% year over year. Its platform now collects more than 30 trillion data points annually, fueling AI innovation across physical operations. The TIME honor follows the Tracking Label's inclusion in Fast Company's Next Big Things in Tech for 2026, where it was one of four innovations recognized in transportation, as well as FreightWaves' 2026 AI Excellence in Supply Chain Award. Samsara additionally was named to Fortune's Future 120 this month. View the full list of TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 features at ti.me/best-inventions. Cadent selects Samsara to deliver safety and telematics across 2,800-vehicle fleet.

Cadent selects Samsara to deliver safety and telematics across 2,800-vehicle fleet. * 7 October 2026 * 0 * Natalie Middleton Cadent has selected Samsara as its preferred technology partner for telematics and driver safety. The UK's largest gas distribution network, which also manages the National Gas Emergency Service Line, will deploy the Samsara platform across its fleet of around 2,800 commercial vehicles, following open dialogue with drivers. The rollout will support the company's strategic goals around digitalisation and driver road risk management. Cadent is the essential utility responsible for managing the gas network powering 11 million English homes and businesses. Operating a critical, round-the-clock safety mission, its engineers are on call 24/7 to tackle urgent gas leaks. By responding to emergencies within the hour, they isolate risks, secure properties and keep communities safe. "Our selection of Samsara aligns very closely with our strategic goals," said David Garner, chief of safety, health, engineering & environment at Cadent. "For an essential service such as ours, accurate vehicle tracking is a regulatory necessity, but our primary focus is safety. Crucially, Samsara's technology empowers our engineers to take ownership of their own driving, moving the learning directly to the driver through in-cab alerts and the Driver App, providing them with timely feedback and coaching on their driving behaviours." Cadent is deploying Samsara's advanced safety suite, rolling out AI dashcams and in-cab coaching to protect its drivers on the road. This technology directly supports the company's Safe & Well initiative, ensuring that every colleague returns home safely at the end of each day. Notably, Cadent has rolled out the new technology after open dialogue with its drivers on the best solution to tackle the daily safety risks of driving for work. By prioritising transparent feedback, Cadent worked closely with its teams to implement a solution that works for everyone, transforming how the company addresses occupational driving - the highest-risk activity its engineers face daily. Siamack Mirzaie, area vice president, Samsara, said: "VAN Fleet World is proud to be working with Cadent, an organisation whose mission is to deliver safe and reliable energy that is vital to the UK. "Samsara is designed to provide the real-time visibility and ease-of-use that a mission-critical fleet requires. We are excited to support Cadent's ambition to digitalise its operations, not only by enhancing driver safety but also by streamlining complex processes such as defect reporting to bring huge benefits across the business."

Brake reveals winners of UK Fleet Champions Awards 2026.

Brake reveals winners of UK Fleet Champions Awards 2026. Organisations and individuals championing safer roads have been recognised for their outstanding work at Brake's UK Fleet Champions Awards 2026. Held last night (Wednesday 30 September 2026) at New Dock Hall at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, the event brought together more than 300 people from across the fleet sector to reveal the winners and runners-up of 12 awards. A highlight of the evening was the announcement of the winner of the Kevin Storey Award for Outstanding Commitment to Road Safety. This special award is given every year to someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in their commitment to road safety, not just within their organisation but through the wider community. This year's winner, Vicki McCarthy from VolkerRail, has demonstrated a profound and sustained commitment to road safety after the death of her 16-year-old daughter in a crash in 2014. Alongside a professional role as a training coordinator for a large fleet, McCarthy has become a powerful advocate for road safety - delivering talks and sharing her lived experience to help people understand the real-world consequences of unsafe driving, particularly among young drivers. The award was presented in memory of McCarthy's daughter, Jordanna. McCarthy took to the stage to receive her award to a standing ovation - the audience visibly moved by her win and her heartfelt acceptance speech. McCarthy said: "I've missed out on so many opportunities and so many memories. I will never get the opportunity to plump my daughter's wedding dress. I don't want another parent to be in my shoes, living my heartache, my nightmare. And that is why I do what I do. I can only say thank you to [the people] who have stood beside me in my darkest moments, in the grief. This is an absolute honour. Thank you." McCarthy received her award from Marcus Bray, sales director at Fleet Service GB. In a fitting full-circle moment, Marcus's father - Fleet Service GB chairman Geoffrey Bray - was a recipient of the exact same award back in 2009. VolkerRail also picked up the title for Company Driver Safety - Large, while Greggs achieved a double win, clinching the Small Fleet version alongside the prestigious Dr Will Murray Award for Analysis and Action. Other winners included Samsara, which claimed the Fleet Safety Technology Innovation Award, while TTC Group & Kier Group took the Fleet Safety Partnership Award, along with Vodafone Automotive & United Utilities. The Fleet Team of the Year Award went to Whistl while the Road Risk Manager of the Year Award was presented to Ray Cowpe from Arriva Northwest & Wales. In total, 51 organisations and individuals were shortlisted for their outstanding commitment to road safety. The winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges from across the fleet industry. Brake's CEO Ross Moorlock commented: "The organisations being recognised tonight are not simply collecting awards plaques; they are setting benchmarks for an entire sector. They are proving that road safety and business performance go hand in hand. And they are demonstrating that protecting people is not a compliance exercise; it is a leadership responsibility." Moorlock also highlighted that road safety is fundamentally a human issue, with real people at the heart of business decisions and performance, and behind road collision statistics. He brought to the crowd's attention the fact that in 2025, nearly one-third of all road deaths - an estimated 445 people - involved somebody who was driving for work. He went on to acknowledge the Government's Road Safety Strategy that was published in January, but added that there is urgency in translating targets into meaningful change. "Strategies do not save lives," he said. "Action saves lives. Investment saves lives. Leadership saves lives." Moorlock told the audience that Brake's National Road Victim Service is currently supporting around 1,000 people across the UK whose lives have been devastated by road death and injury, with an estimated 2,000 new referrals into the service this year alone. He also spoke of Brake's work providing police forces across the UK with specialist bereavement boxes and property bags so that when someone dies on the road, their belongings can be returned to their family with compassion and dignity. Moorlock said: "We continue to do all of this without any central government funding across England and Wales. We remain incredibly grateful to the Scottish Government and Transport Scotland for their commitment to supporting road crash victims in Scotland. But elsewhere, everything I have described tonight exists because of our funders, partners, sponsors and fundraising evenings exactly like this one." For the third consecutive year, Driving for Better Business by National Highways was Brake's delivery partner, while fleet telematics provider Quartix was the headline sponsor for this year's awards. A further 10 fleet suppliers and organisations sponsored individual award categories.
