About the job

Requirements
  • Typically, 10–14 years of experience, or equivalent demonstrated through portfolio and impact.
  • Strong product design fundamentals, including research synthesis, interaction design, systems thinking, and visual craft.
  • Experience designing complex systems such as enterprise software, multi-step workflows, and data-heavy interfaces.
  • Demonstrated comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where the problem is not handed to you pre-formed.
  • Ability to communicate design rationale to mixed audiences across product, engineering, and business, and hold your perspective under pressure.
  • A portfolio is required, demonstrating complex systems thinking, end-to-end journey work, and design decisions that improved the experience and why.
Responsibilities
  • Make complexity clear by designing understandable experiences for multi-step workflows, cross-platform journeys, and enterprise-scale data.
  • Drive concept development from research and outcomes to prototypes quickly, demonstrating possibilities and using AI-assisted tools to connect design intent with working experiences.
  • Own the design of end-to-end experiences by mapping journeys across users, teams, and systems and identifying breakdowns, accumulated friction, and opportunities for rebuilding or refinement.
  • Operate across the full scope of a platform experience, not only the screens in front of you.
  • Contribute to a machine-readable design system by adding semantic tokens and patterns that encode when and why they apply, and by understanding how AI agents and human developers consume it.
  • Communicate design as a point of view by articulating decision rationale and explaining tradeoffs to product managers and engineers.
  • Mentor through example and raise the standard of work through critique, collaboration, and problem-solving approach.
  • Work alongside product managers and engineers in real time from research through a shippable product.
  • Create products and demonstrate the process, prototypes, repositories, decisions, and products shaped.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools for ideation, building, and prototyping.
  • Experience working in shared codebases or repositories with cross-functional teams, or actively moving toward that model.
  • Ability to describe how AI changed the approach to a design problem rather than merely making it faster.
  • Experience contributing to a design system at the pattern or systems level rather than only executing components.
  • Work at the intersection of design and technical implementation, close to the material and not downstream from it.
  • Deep excitement for and understanding of the opportunities AI creates for design.

BNY embeds AI everywhere but won't say how much it spends of its $4B tech budget

BNY, which says it is embedding artificial intelligence (AI) across its business, declined to say how much it spends on the technology. Chief executive officer Robin Vince told analysts on its third-quarter earnings call that the bank is not breaking out the figure, and that doing so could be "counterproductive." Vince said AI is generating returns. About $4 billion of BNY's $13 billion annual expense base goes to technology. The bank now has "400-plus" AI solutions in production, up from 117 a year ago. BNY reported revenue of $5.7 billion, up 12%, and net income of $1.7 billion, up 16%. Earnings per share were $2.34, against a consensus estimate of $2.27. It raised its 2026 revenue growth outlook to 12%-13%.
