Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate and complete financial reporting in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accurate accounting for revenue, accounts payable, fixed assets, and tax.
  • Lead and coordinate with statutory and internal auditors.
  • Process vendor invoices promptly and according to agreed service-level agreements.
  • Prepare plan-versus-actual comparisons and variance analyses for management, including explanations for variances.
  • Define and maintain proper internal controls across finance processes.
  • Control fixed-asset procurement and ensure timely physical verification.
  • Share information promptly and facilitate timely closure of statutory audits for both entities concerning accounts payable, fixed assets, and tax.
  • Close the internal audit process on time and improve ageing visibility and closure of long-aged items.
  • Ensure all expenses are approved according to delegation-of-authority and approval guidelines.
  • Ensure there are no overdue related-party balances in the financial statements.
  • Manage the month-, quarter-, and year-end close process.
  • Analyze balance-sheet codes and ensure balances are accurate and current.
  • Reconcile balances with the source system and ensure tax compliance for tax deducted at source rates, goods and services tax rates on invoices, and inter-unit charge expenses.
  • Assist with reviewing policy-account balances, including premiums receivable, and address premium-receivable collection issues.
  • Manage cash effectively by monitoring future cash requirements and maintaining efficient funding levels.
  • Complete periodic returns to the appropriate authorities.
  • Complete regulatory returns, tax filings, and annual financial statements.
  • Review existing processes formally and drive improvements in expense processing and financial reporting.
  • Participate in budgeting for non-insurance-related expenses in consultation with the reporting manager.
  • Drive expense analysis and expense control.
  • Close assignments on time as agreed with stakeholders and the reporting manager.
  • Ensure accounting processes align with Sarbanes-Oxley narratives.
  • Ensure there are no unreconciled items in bank reconciliations.
  • Implement new processes and controls to eliminate audit concerns related to non-insurance activities.
  • Work closely with the regional team handling inter-unit charges to determine tax implications and settle balances without delay.
Desired Qualifications
  • Four to five years of work experience as a semi-qualified chartered accountant is preferred.
  • Experience with Big Four firms and/or insurance companies is desirable for a bachelor's degree holder.
  • Exposure to Indian private limited company financial reporting is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is an added advantage.
  • Capability to work with standard reporting tools such as Power BI is an added advantage.
