Requirements
  • A master's degree in American Sign Language, ASL Interpretation, Deaf Education, Deaf Studies, Speech Pathology and Audiology, Special Education with Emphasis in Deaf Education, or Linguistics with Emphasis in American Sign Language, or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in one of those fields.
  • Ability to teach courses during the day, evening, online, and through other distance learning formats.
  • Ability to work successfully in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to analyze information, problems, situations, practices, and procedures; interpret data; reason logically; establish facts; identify issues; draw conclusions; develop recommendations; select appropriate courses of action; and evaluate outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and deliver instruction in didactic, laboratory, and classroom settings to promote student success in a community college setting.
  • Support and promote the college and departmental missions through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and timely service.
  • Collaborate with the Director, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum that cultivates mastery of course content.
  • Demonstrate technological literacy and innovation in instructional delivery.
  • Collaborate as part of an academic team.
  • Assist with implementing college policies, objectives, functions, strategic initiatives, and procedures.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and collegewide committees as needed.
  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Document student progress and maintain records of attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes.
  • Develop methods to fairly and accurately assess student progress toward stated learning outcomes and objectives.
  • Maintain office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
  • Protect the privacy and security of student records and sensitive information in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Comply with college rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws and regulations governing public employees, including document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
  • Provide courteous, informed, accessible, and professional service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
