Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in an engineering or manufacturing-related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience supervising Quality Engineers and Quality Assurance personnel is required.
  • Experience with AS9100, AS9145, and AS9102 is required.
  • Experience using quality tools such as Production Part Approval Process, Control Plan, Process Flow Chart, 8D, and Ishikawa is required.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills for making recommendations and decisions are required.
  • Organizational, communication, and leadership skills are required.
  • The position requires compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations export restrictions and successful attainment and maintenance of the necessary export authorization.
  • The employee must work safely in accordance with company and regulatory requirements, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and state and federal regulations.
  • The employee must be able to work in a factory environment, move between sitting, standing, and walking, and lift up to 10 pounds consistently and up to 25 pounds periodically.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that Quality Management System processes and procedures meet the latest version of AS9100.
  • Ensure that customer and regulatory requirements are met internally and by suppliers.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance procedures, policies, and practices, including quality-process input to new programs, corrective actions, and written quality-program reports.
  • Ensure successful operation of the Quality Assurance Department through staffing, motivation, and training.
  • Manage Supplier Quality Engineers and assigned Quality Assurance personnel, including performance reviews, goals, objectives, mentoring, and development plans.
  • Flow down quality objectives throughout the organization and report on their effectiveness.
  • Assist senior quality leadership with quality assurance and continuous-improvement matters.
  • Coordinate Quality Assurance resources in support of engineering and manufacturing activities, including supplier quality and supplier development.
  • Control and approve Production Part Approval Process and First Article Inspection packages, and develop receiving inspection plans, sampling plans, and appropriate statistical process controls.
  • Act as the Quality Department liaison with engineering and business development for new projects, design, and sourcing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with contract quality requirements and customer quality notes.
  • Coordinate First Article Inspection activities for externally supplied parts and components.
  • Perform Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process activities within the company and supplier base when required by contract.
  • Lead internal and external cross-functional problem-solving activities.
  • Maintain effective control and disposition of supplier nonconforming product through the Material Review Board.
  • Coordinate with Document Control to conduct internal audits on schedule.
  • Ensure Document Control activities comply with AS9100.
  • Maintain calibration compliance with ANSI/NCSL-7540.
  • Ensure document and configuration-change reviews follow company procedures and customer requirements.
  • Support Quality Control activities in the absence of the Quality Control Manager.
  • Perform related Quality Assurance Department duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Lean Manufacturing experience or Six Sigma certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Federal Aviation Administration quality practices, including Manufacturing Inspection District Office-approved facilities and Parts Manufacturer Approval procedures.
  • Experience in the electronics industry involving military and commercial aviation products, with detailed knowledge of industry processes and practices.
