Prudential, BASF and PetVet lay off 169 workers across New Jersey locations

Three companies have filed layoff notices in New Jersey, affecting 169 workers. Prudential Insurance Company of America will cut 89 positions at its Newark location, effective 18 September. BASF Corporation will eliminate 62 roles at its Florham Park facility between 1 November and 31 December. Petvet Care Centers will reduce its workforce by 18 at its Egg Harbor Township location, effective 8 October. Prudential stated it is "strengthening our business to deliver long-term growth" through workforce reorganisation. BASF cited its restructuring activities as part of adapting to changing market conditions. The companies filed notices under the WARN Act, which requires employers with 100 or more employees to provide 60 days' advance notice of mass layoffs.
