Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in surveying or land mapping is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Expert knowledge of land mapping and technical survey instrument techniques is required.
  • Proven leadership and management skills are required.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide work control lines and elevations required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by field staff.
  • Ensure crews perform layout work competently and accurately.
  • Check as-built conditions requiring surveying techniques.
  • Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
  • Assist with conducting quantity calculations as required.
  • Monitor and maintain the condition and calibration of surveying equipment.
  • Coordinate survey activities with the assigned engineer and superintendents to meet construction requirements.
  • Manage survey department resources and the department-assigned budget.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, geometrics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Large project experience, such as projects of $500 million or more, is preferred.
  • NAVFAC experience is preferred.
  • Department of Defense experience is preferred.
  • A Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) credential is preferred.
