Requirements
  • A valid Registered Nurse license in the State of New Jersey is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support certifications are required.
  • Valid Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association must be maintained.
  • The ability to employ problem-solving techniques and critical thinking is required.
  • The ability to lift and move patients with or without reasonable accommodations is required.
  • The ability to organize the care and activities of multiple patients is required.
  • Proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Fit testing is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide accountable care for assigned patients by assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening in actual or potential health problems, and evaluating patients' responses to care.
  • Provide patient education and discharge planning.
  • Mobilize patients, prevent skin breakdown and falls, and implement appropriate safety measures.
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and guide care-team members in planning patient care and achieving patient-care goals.
  • Document care and services thoroughly in accordance with American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Joint Commission standards and Sentinel Event Alert recommendations, Patient/Family Centered Principles, Department of Health standards, and University Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Work as a professional licensed staff member of an interdisciplinary team and follow the behavioral expectations and Nursing Department Philosophy.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • Adult medical/surgical experience is preferred.
  • Successful completion of a Progressive Care Course or Progressive Care Certification is preferred, but must be achieved within the first six months of hire.
  • Phlebotomy Certification or Intravenous Certification is preferred, but must be achieved within the first six months of hire.
  • Successful completion of a Critical Care Course or Critical Care Registered Nurse Certification is preferred.
