Registered Nurse - Oral Surgery
About the job
- An active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license is required.
- Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications are required.
- Prior experience in an Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit is required.
- Three years of nursing experience is preferred.
- Prepare patients for oral surgery procedures, including reviewing medical history and obtaining vital signs.
- Administer medications, including intravenous sedation, in accordance with state regulations and provider orders.
- Monitor patients during procedures, including cardiac monitoring, oxygen saturation, and airway management.
- Assist oral surgeons chairside during surgical procedures.
- Educate patients on procedure expectations, post-operative care, and recovery instructions.
- Provide discharge instructions and ensure patient understanding.
- Monitor recovery and respond to complications or adverse reactions.
- Maintain adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and infection control protocols.
- Ensure emergency equipment and medications are readily available and up to date.
- Respond to medical emergencies, including airway management and basic or advanced life support.
- Document patient care, medications, and procedures in the electronic medical record system.
- Collaborate with oral surgeons, dental assistants, and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and medications.
