Requirements
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in precision mechanical assembly, electromechanical integration, micro-assembly, or a related technical field.
  • Exceptional manual dexterity, skill with hand tools, hand-eye coordination, and demonstrated ability to work with small, delicate components.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, computer-aided design models, and step-by-step build instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a proven track record of working on and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
  • High school diploma, General Educational Development credential, or equivalent.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Ability to lift and move 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work in office, workshop, and outdoor environments, including moving, sitting, traversing ladders, stairs, and uneven terrain, seeing fine detail, and hearing verbal instructions.
  • Willingness to work directly with hazardous materials and meticulously comply with associated safety and security protocols.
Responsibilities
  • Perform precision assembly and integration of small, complex, and fragile mechanical subsystems using engineering drawings, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify mechanical and electromechanical function and fit issues and work with teammates to troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies.
  • Operate and maintain 3D printers, hand tools, and power tools to produce rapid prototypes, custom assembly jigs, and alignment fixtures.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and test hardware.
Desired Qualifications
  • Existing final SECRET or higher security clearance.
  • Experience working in electrostatic-discharge-sensitive and hazardous-materials environments.
  • Eligibility for a Commercial Driver’s License and hazardous-materials endorsement.
  • Hands-on experience operating, maintaining, modifying, and troubleshooting fused-deposition-modeling, filament, stereolithography, and digital-light-processing printers.
  • Working knowledge of print optimization, including layer heights, infill patterns, print orientation, support design, and post-processing such as support removal, sanding, and curing.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical fabrication processes such as machining, welding, soldering, and system integration.
  • Understanding of fastener selection, thread locking, torque limits, press fits, micro-clearances, and structural bonding adhesives such as epoxy, cyanoacrylate, and ultraviolet-cure adhesives.
  • Ability to recognize and troubleshoot fitment issues such as binding, misalignments, dynamic interference, and tolerance stack-up issues during dry fits and final assembly.
  • High tolerance for repetitive, fine-detail work requiring intense focus, steady hands, and surgical cleanliness.
