General Summary
- The HB Billing Manager provides leadership and direction for all hospital billing functions to ensure billing accuracy and timely claims submission for Phelps Health. The HB Billing Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the facility’s hospital billing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains knowledge of hospital billing rules and regulations and is a resource to others.
- Supervise, train and mentor the HB Billing Team.
- Oversees, evaluates, and monitors on-the-job performance of HB Billing team members and coaches/counsels team members to maximize performance, job progression, and lead positive change.
- Sets objectives and priorities for the team, assigning tasks and ensuring quality of team member’s work.
- Provides leadership and navigation through business challenges using sound judgement.
- Accountable for overseeing daily activities to address existing and emerging issues/trends and keeps relevant stakeholders informed of assessed levels of risk.
Education
- Associates degree in Healthcare or related field required. Five (5) years hospital billing experience will be accepted in lieu of education. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Work Experience
- One (1) year of hospital billing experience required.
Certification/License
- HFMA Certification preferred.
Mental/Physical Requirements
- Considerable mental concentration. Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral and written communications. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to concentrate, block out background noise, and work under conditions where space is limited, air conditioning is not always adequate. Environmental noise includes general office equipment and impromptu discussions of work related topics. Must be able to work as requested to ensure facilities goals and objectives are met and to maintain daily operational efficiency.
