Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the US e-commerce P&L. Manage the financial KPIs (P&L) of Bluebottlecoffee.com as well as 3P marketplaces in the North Americas, including budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring.
  • Leverage digital channels to support a holistic guest experience across channels.
  • In partnership with the Director, Membership & Digital Commerce, develop and execute a comprehensive e-commerce strategy that aligns DTC, Amazon, and other third-party retail channels under a cohesive growth plan. Monitor performance metrics (traffic, conversion rates, customer reviews, etc.) and adjust strategies based on data insights and competitive trends.
  • Ensure strong operational execution, collaborating with internal teams to manage inventory flow, compliance, and demand forecasting. Provide recommendations for digital commerce exclusive SKUs and offerings.
  • Add fuel to the channel's profitable growth trajectory while onboarding incremental digital platforms and wholesale solutions. Monitor and evaluate digital commerce performance metrics, ensuring goals are met while mitigating cannibalization of commercial sales volume.
  • Manage the full site experience, including product listings, merchandising, navigation, and third-party app integrations to enhance guest engagement and conversion.
  • Manage email/CRM and paid media reports to execute digital commerce initiatives effectively. Serve as the champion subject matter expert on digital commerce within the organization, ensuring best practices, innovation, and data-driven decision-making are integrated across teams.
  • Ensure compliance with legal guidelines and industry standards around accessibility and privacy. Work closely with the Digital Product manager to address bugs, optimize performance, and ensure continuous site improvements.
  • Own planning and execution of direct marketing activations, developing a comprehensive automated CRM flow to onboard new signups and enhance customer engagement.
  • Develop a digital commerce reporting framework in collaboration with Category Management and Commercial Analysts to track KPIs, consumer insights, and incremental sales.
  • Establish monthly performance benchmarks and continuously track KPIs, ensuring all initiatives are aligned with organizational growth objectives.
  • Develop impactful and strategic marketing presentations utilizing data, insights, and storytelling to communicate digital commerce performance and opportunities. Support the creation of a company-wide dashboard to provide visibility into performance and key KPIs. Collaborate with the Brand Marketing team to generate insights that can be leveraged cross-functionally to drive business growth.

According to sources familiar with the transaction, Centurium Capital, the powerhouse investor behind Luckin Coffee's rise, has agreed to acquire all of Blue Bottle Coffee's global store operations from the Swiss multinational Nestle. While the exact figure remains undisclosed, reports indicate the transaction is valued at less than $400 million. Chinese private equity firm Mega Capital has signed an agreement with Nestlé to acquire Blue Bottle Coffee, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter. The deal will see Mega Capital acquire Blue Bottle's global café operations, whilst Nestlé retains the brand's coffee machine and capsule business. The transaction has been signed but has not yet closed, according to a source close to Mega Capital. The acquisition marks a significant investment in the speciality coffee sector by the Chinese firm. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Luckin Coffee is considering buying Blue Bottle from Nestle. Last month, it was announced that Nestle was maybe kinda possibly considering selling off their stake in Blue Bottle Coffee. The company is looking to divest from any brick and mortar locations, which would mean their investment in the Oakland-based cafe chain would need to be moved. At the time there was no mention of an interested buyer, but it appears that one has emerged. Luckin Coffee, the Chinese coffee chain looking to challenge Starbucks, has expressed interest in buying Blue Bottle. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, one source told Bloomberg that Luckin is exploring a bid as part of a larger strategy to position themselves in the premium coffee world. Along with Blue Bottle, Luckin and its financial backer Centurium Capital are also looking into acquiring the operator of all the % Arabica location in China. Luckin and Centurium also explored another major acquisition, Costa Coffee from Coca-Cola, who is also looking to offload some of their coffee portfolio, but that deal is believed to no longer be in the works. It has been a wild ride for Luckin. From explosive initial growth and overtaking Starbucks in China to being delisted on the NYSE to reemerging and opening their first US location. And now they are tied to the purchase of one of the biggest global players in specialty coffee. The deal is still very much in the early stages, and may not ever come to fruition but there is a certain je ne sais quoi about a coffee brand whose service model is "as fast as possible" acquiring one of the original leaders in the clubhouse for slow coffee. Blue Bottle is, to the best of my recollection, the first major specialty coffee brand with their own pour-over brewer. And now, in a grand twist of irony, Blue Bottle, a specialty coffee brand, is being traded like a commodity. So it goes. "It" being the imbroglio between specialty coffee and corporations.
