Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Texas Class C driver's license, or obtain a Texas driver's license within 30 days of employment if not currently a Texas resident.
  • Have one year of hands-on experience with various phases of transportation services, including moving furniture and equipment.
  • Have knowledge and experience with basic hand tools.
  • Provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds repeatedly and perform associated twisting, grasping, pulling, bending, climbing, and manual-dexterity tasks.
  • Complete all required safety training.
  • A criminal history background check is required for finalists.
  • Provide a resume or curriculum vitae, three work references including at least one supervisor reference, and a letter of interest.
Responsibilities
  • Collect, load, transport, and deliver furniture and equipment across campus locations while working as part of a team to maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Assist the team with setting up furniture and equipment for campus events, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Drive University-owned vehicles, including box trucks, to transport materials safely and efficiently in high-traffic areas.
  • When not driving, assist with ground-guiding and monitor surroundings to support safe vehicle operations.
  • Lift, push, and pull materials in accordance with National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health guidelines.
  • Operate manual and powered warehouse equipment during loading, transport, and unloading activities.
  • Communicate with supervisors, team members, and clients to support coordination, safety awareness, and service delivery.
  • Follow written and verbal directions.
  • Attend and participate in team and departmental meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including working with other departments.
  • Work frequent overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate's degree is preferred.
  • More than one year of experience in transportation services is preferred.
  • Operational experience with a forklift and pallet jack is preferred.
