About the job

Requirements
  • Have 3–6 years of experience writing systems-level firmware for embedded targets, with depth beyond glue code on top of hardware abstraction layers.
  • Have a strong command of C and the ability to adopt systems languages such as Rust, Zig, and C++ when appropriate.
  • Have a background in red teaming, offensive security research, or adversarial testing targeting embedded systems and physical hardware.
  • Reason about trust boundaries, failure modes, and adversarial inputs before they become vulnerabilities.
  • Have experience thriving in an early-stage startup.
  • Be comfortable operating without perfect specifications or complete information.
  • Have U.S. Person status; the role may involve export-controlled data.
Responsibilities
  • Own firmware across real-time operating systems, embedded Linux, wireless radios, GPS, and custom embedded hardware.
  • Write and maintain system daemons and firmware modules with strict fault isolation.
  • Own secure boot and verified firmware update pipelines end-to-end.
  • Conduct adversarial reviews of firmware attack surfaces, including USB, Bluetooth Low Energy, UART, and over-the-air updates, and address discovered issues.
  • Partner with radio frequency and machine learning teams on high-throughput signal capture and real-time processing pipelines.
  • Build and maintain hardware validation tooling and reduce bring-up friction on each successive board spin.
Desired Qualifications
  • Have shipped firmware on microcontrollers and operating-system-based embedded systems.
  • Have written firmware for systems with secure boot, verified over-the-air updates, or hardware-enforced trust boundaries.
  • Have done radio-frequency/software-defined-radio-adjacent work or integrated wireless radios at the firmware layer.
  • Have maintained embedded Linux systems, including custom root filesystems, systemd services, and power management.
  • Hold a security certification or have contributed to a CVE, hardware capture-the-flag event, or published security research.

About the company

Sweep360 provides a personal cyber risk management platform for mobile and remote workers. Its mobile app uses on-device sensors, AI, and augmented reality to detect IoT devices around the user and flag risks such as hidden cameras, GPS trackers, and suspicious Wi-Fi activity. Unlike enterprise-focused security tools, it targets individuals with real-time, in-situ threat detection delivered through AR overlays. Its stated goal is to help remote and mobile workers understand, visualize, and reduce cyber risk in their immediate surroundings; it appears to be out of business as of July 28, 2025.

What believers are saying

  • Sweep360's website listed six open roles on August 20, 2026, including ML and firmware.
  • A September 11, 2026 LinkedIn profile shows an iOS engineer starting January 2026.
  • Third-party job boards mirror active hiring in New York, suggesting operational continuity.

What critics are saying

  • PitchBook labeled Sweep360 Out of Business on July 28, 2025.
  • No funding, revenue, or customer disclosures surfaced, so distribution looks nonexistent.
  • A zombie website can vanish without product traction, ending the company in 2026.

What makes Sweep360 unique

  • Sweep360 combines on-device sensing and AR to detect hidden cameras, trackers, and rogue WiFi.
  • Its niche targets mobile workers' physical environments, not generic endpoint security.
  • The 2026 site still markets a Ubiquitous Defense Layer, signaling a broad security ambition.
