About the job
- Minimum post-high-school education in a medical support field, with Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse accepted.
- Non-certified Medical Assistants must complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration.
- One or more years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred, and DERM Tech certification is a plus.
- Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses, and registrations required for continued employment.
- Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems.
- Must possess organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize appropriately, and work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
- Room patients and document all vital information.
- Scribe information for the dermatologist.
- Provide postoperative wound care to patients.
- Draw blood and remove sutures.
- Clean and stock examination rooms.
- Schedule patient appointments.
- Assist the dermatologist with surgical photographs.
- Assist with punch, DIF, and shave biopsies.
- Assist with excisions.
- Assist with electrodessication and curettage.
- Assist with incision and drainage procedures.
- Assist with Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery.
- Assist with phototherapy.
- Assist with injections.
- Assist with KOH preparations.
- Assist with trichograms.
- Assist with Tzanck preparations.
- Assist with dermabrasion.
- Assist with patch testing.
- Assist with blue-light treatments.
- One or more years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity.
