Responsibilities
  • Perform data management tasks for studies using multiple data sources and traditional form-based data capture.
  • Manage timelines, identify risks, and escalate them as needed.
  • Design, document, and operationalize data-related work and data flow for studies; manage scope and budget.
  • Perform data management tasks at the Associate CRIS level for large, high-risk, or complex projects.
  • Provide consultative services to clinical investigators regarding methods, minimum standards, and best practices in research informatics.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement data standards for clinical studies, including standard data elements, standard data collection forms, controlled terminologies, common data models, and data exchange standards used in healthcare or research.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Draft and execute clinical study monitoring plans, including site initiation, monitoring, and closeout.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the study sponsor and principal investigator on informatics aspects of clinical studies.
  • Assist in developing cost estimates, budget justifications, and research plans for data management components of proposals and research grant submissions.
  • Collaborate with high-level computing and networking staff to design new computer applications for data management processes and solve technical problems.
  • Monitor and evaluate existing database management system applications to identify enhancements that improve data quality and processing efficiency.
  • Define and maintain detailed functional specifications for new computer applications, including user interfaces, data structures, data discrepancy identification and resolution, system interfaces, data processing algorithms, and workflow constraints.
  • Complete job training requirements for the Intermediate CRIS level.
  • Deliver standard training to new CRISs, review work on activities new to junior CRISs, and provide feedback.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Clinical Data Manager (CCDMTM) certification is preferred.
  • Association for Clinical Research Professionals Certified Professional (ACRP-CP) certification is preferred.
  • Project management certification is preferred.
