Requirements
  • Civil Engineers must have a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or another Civil Engineering discipline, such as biomedical or computer Civil Engineering
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
  • A Master's Degree or Professional Civil Engineering Licensure
  • A Minimum of 3 years of relevant and progressive professional experience
  • Ability to prepare various civil engineering calculations and drawings
  • Education typically includes theoretical coursework, hands-on projects, and training with various computer programming programs, power systems, and technically oriented material subjects, like hydraulics, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Experience with Department of Energy and Nuclear Criticality Safety experience and candidate must be able to obtain a DOE Q clearance
  • Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Hold a Professional Engineering (PE) - Civil Engineering license
  • In-depth knowledge using AutoCAD with Civil 3D utility and surface models
  • Lead in a Nuclear, Energy, and Environmental Management Sector maintenance organization within a DOE facility
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the nuclear field and at least 7 years of job-related experience or equivalent
  • US Citizen (dual citizenship is not allowed)
  • Working knowledge and expertise in Excel, and Word
  • Working knowledge designing site drainage and storm water control systems
  • Working knowledge of drawing production and checking, approval, revision, retention, and storage of engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge of MicroStation using Openroads
  • Working knowledge of regulatory codes and standards
  • Working knowledge of the design of underground utilities
  • Working knowledge of the process of preparing and checking calculations, as well as approval, revision, retention, and storage of project calculations
  • Working knowledge with commercially available hydraulic and hydrology software
  • U.S. Citizenship Required - You must be a United States Citizen
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (This employer participates in the e-Verify program)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, & Adobe)
  • All ProSidian staff must be determined eligible for a "Facility Access Authorization" (also referred to as an "Employment Authorization") by the USG's designated Security Office
  • May be required to complete a Financial Disclosure Statement
  • Must be able to submit to and qualify for varying levels of background investigative requirements, up to a Top Secret or DOE "Q" clearance
Responsibilities
  • Analyzing survey reports, long-range plans, maps and other data to design new projects
  • Completing and submitting all permit applications to the appropriate agencies and ensuring projects are compliant throughout the design and construction stages
  • Conduct site visits and investigate engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
  • Considering budget, regulations and environmental hazards during risk-analysis stage
  • Coordinate disciplinary actions with Human Resources
  • Coordinate manpower and resources to execute projects to meet or exceed customers' critical timelines
  • Design a portion or section of an analysis or design review
  • Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications
  • Direct daily activities/work load of assigned shops, schedule/execute work orders and PMIs
  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications
  • Ensure personnel remain current with certification, licensing and training requirements
  • Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status
  • Forecasting design and construction timeline
  • Generate sections or design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects
  • Interact with foremen, union stewards, division managers, Gov't POCs, and internal/external customers
  • Managing repair and maintenance of infrastructure projects
  • Overseeing soil testing to establish soil strength and building feasibility
  • Participate in project design reviews and provide feedback on constructability and maintainability
  • Perform a range of design development, analysis, or review tasks under some supervision
  • Perform all other position related duties
  • Plan and direct new construction/renovations, projects, inspect job sites on a routine basis
  • Prepare, deliver, and submit technical presentations for in process design and review meetings
  • Prepare/submit materials, tools, parts, PPE purchase requests
  • Preparing material, equipment and labor cost estimates and confirming costs are within the budget
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches
  • Review, approve and correct timesheets, approve leave requests, training/travel reimbursements
  • Using design software to create project drawings and renderings
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
