Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience in utility-scale solar photovoltaic systems, a related electrical or mechanical field, a related degree, or an industry certificate course.
  • Knowledge of direct-current systems, photovoltaic modules, and tracker mechanisms.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and original equipment manufacturer manuals.
  • Ability to use a meter and, after training, other required electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to maintain safety training and Qualified Electrical Worker requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work at heights, in high or low temperatures and high humidity, and around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and use required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work overtime and non-standard hours, including nights, and participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect and troubleshoot direct-current systems, combiner boxes, and string performance.
  • Perform module swaps and replacements according to site standards.
  • Diagnose and repair tracker system components, including gearboxes, actuators, drives, and motors.
  • Support corrective and preventative maintenance across photovoltaic systems and balance-of-system equipment.
  • Document work performed, service activity, and parts consumption using digital reporting systems.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, National Electrical Code, and NFPA 70E safety standards.
  • Assist with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities and support experienced technicians with troubleshooting tasks.
  • Participate in safety briefings and enforce lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Communicate issues and solutions to leadership and interface with customers.
  • Work with Inventory Control to ensure projects are supplied with parts and consumables.
  • Learn and apply fundamentals of mechanics, electricity, electronics, programmable logic controllers, and hydraulics to solve mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Interface with equipment programmable logic controllers to program, analyze performance, and troubleshoot problems.
  • Perform other assigned duties and travel as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, or equivalent safety certifications.
  • NABCEP Associate or NCCER certification.
  • Familiarity with inverter troubleshooting and supervisory control and data acquisition or monitoring systems.
