Responsibilities
  • Work closely with regulators to review and analyze companies' investment strategies, products, portfolios, investment plans, and agreements.
  • Review entities' investment policies, guidelines, procedures, and controls regarding investment accounts, and perform procedures to verify or establish the existence, ownership, and valuation of investment accounts.
  • Compare investment activities with industry benchmarks.
  • Review companies' investment risk-management processes.
  • Review and assess derivative investment portfolios and hedging programs.
  • Review and evaluate investment-related agreements.
  • Develop interview questions and lead or assist with investment interviews of senior and executive management at companies, and assess governance functions over investment areas.
  • Execute testing of compliance with state laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Participate in client status meetings, prepare and review deliverables, and assist in identifying issues for communication to clients.
  • Review valuation and assess impairment of investments, including asset-backed securities, mortgage-backed securities, and collateralized debt obligations.
  • Work with actuaries, reinsurance specialists, and financial examiners on investment issues affecting their work.
  • Communicate complex investment topics to clients and other stakeholders.
  • Document work in accordance with defined regulatory requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • An MBA, Certified Public Accountant credential, or other professional certification is preferred, including Certified Investment Specialist or Chartered Financial Analyst credentials.
  • Experience in insurance-industry portfolio management is preferred.
  • Experience reviewing, assessing, and documenting investment-related internal controls and governance is preferred.

RSM strengthens its capital allowances team with Matt McPherson. 28 July 2026 Consultancy.uk Leading audit, tax and consulting firm RSM has announced Matt McPherson is joining its innovation and capital tax reliefs team as a director, specialising in capital allowances. His appointment marks the firm's latest investment in its capital tax reliefs team. Matt McPherson joins as corporate tax director at RSM. He arrives from BDO and brings over 15 years' experience in capital allowances, working with global clients across multiple sectors including media, life sciences, healthcare and consumer products. He previously worked for a Big Four firm in the capital asset tax services practice, where he delivered on major capital projects across the UK. At RSM, McPherson will further strengthen the firm's position as a leading capital allowances adviser in the South. He will work with clients across a broad range of industries, leveraging his industry expertise to engage with new markets and support the firm's wider growth strategy. Cedra acquires RSM Norge amid fraud probe and Økokrim charges

Cedra Norge is acquiring the core operations of RSM, a Norwegian audit firm currently facing a compensation lawsuit and an indictment from Økokrim involving two of its auditors. The deal continues Cedra's expansion in the consulting sector. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition marks another step in Cedra's consolidation strategy within Norway's professional services market. RSM has been dealing with legal challenges, though specific details of the Økokrim case and lawsuit were not elaborated.
