Requirements
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Eligibility for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association or proof of alternative coverage.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Provide anesthesia services at Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Glace Bay Hospital for general surgery, orthopedics, urology, otolaryngology, obstetrics and gynecology, dental surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, and vascular surgery, including management of pediatric patients.
  • Participate fully in overnight and weekend on-call coverage and acute pain services.
  • Participate in the preoperative assessment clinic.
  • Participate in medical student and resident education.
  • Be responsible to the Zone Department Head of Anesthesia for professional responsibilities and quality of practice.
  • Operate within the bylaws, rules, and regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Offer services in the Pain Clinic if desired.
  • Engage in research and/or medical teaching positions with Dalhousie University.
