REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Sept. 10, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Alation Inc., the creators of the intelligence operating system, today announced the return of revAlation, its global conference series. The 2026 series encompasses three conferences: Chicago (September 17), London (September 30), and Sydney (October 8). Executives and industry thought leaders from Accenture, AWS, BBC, Electronic Arts, Flutter, MyState Limited, PwC, SanjMo, Veolia, and more will present in more than 20 sessions around the globe. Few can prove it's accurate, governed, and audit-ready," said Satyen Sangani, CEO and co-founder of Alation. "When an agent gets it wrong, most teams can't tell whether the failure was in the data, context, or agent itself. revAlation is where the leaders who solved that problem showcase their work, inspire others, and compare notes." Conference Highlights Include: Corporate Keynote: Hear Alation's CEO and co-founder, Satyen Sangani, share why the organizations that succeed with AI will be those that learn fastest and how AIOS provides the trusted, self-improving foundation they need to align decisions, adapt continuously, and innovate safely at scale. Product Keynote: Join GT Volpe, VP of Product at Alation, for a live look at what's next across AIOS, and how the platform brings governed data, context, and AI agents into a single system. Partner Spotlight: Meet the Global System Integrators, including PwC, and partners building on AIOS, on how a governed data foundation turns compliance work into sustainable & production-ready AI, and the new engagement models it opens up. Industry: Sanjeev Mohan, former Gartner VP of Research and author of Designing the AI-Driven Data Foundations, shares what his research and the day's conversations reveal about where the industry is heading. Learn how leaders are building on years of investment in catalogs and governance to give AI agents the trusted business context they need and the practical steps organizations can take now. 100 shops, 400 jobs at risk as Paddy Power initiates review.

100 shops, 400 jobs at risk as Paddy Power initiates review. September 4, 2026 Key Points * Paddy Power is considering scaling down its retail presence in Great Britain and Ireland * The company cited economic difficulties and higher taxes as the reason for this review * Paddy Power may end up closing up to 100 shops, impacting as many as 400 jobs Irish gaming company Paddy Power seems to be reviewing its shop portfolio. As it turns out, the review could cause the company to close up to 100 shops, which would impact as many as 400 jobs. Paddy Power to shave off 20% of its shops. Paddy Power seems to be considering scaling down its retail presence in Great Britain and Ireland amid unfavorable business conditions. The company said that it is currently reviewing its shops in the two countries, while planning to close up to 100 of them. If the Flutter-owned business ends up closing 100 shops, as planned, this could impact as many as 400 jobs. While these positions are at risk of redundancy, spokespeople said that Paddy Power will offer redeployment where possible. Paddy Power representatives emphasized that their company is very pleased with its high street presence. However, they also acknowledged the challenging economic conditions, which prompted the "difficult decision" to review the company's shop portfolio. The move was prompted by economic difficulties and taxes. To put things into perspective, closing 100 shops would slash Paddy Power's UK&I presence by roughly 20%. For reference, the company currently operates a total of 506 shops across the two countries. While Paddy Power did not confirm whether the shop closures would be mostly in the UK, the company did imply that the review was caused by, among other things, increased gambling taxes. For context, the UK's Autumn Budget introduced controversial tax hikes, despite the gaming industry's strong opposition. As a result of this, the iGaming tax increased from 21% to 40%, while the sports betting duty rose from 15% to 25% Paddy Power's mulled decision to close shops is by no means unique and follows a broader pattern in the UK. Betfred previously confirmed that it is closing some 132 shops across the UK, impacting up to 600 people. In Paddy Power's case, the review was also prompted by high energy costs, business headwinds, economic uncertainty, rising competition, and expensive rents. Paddy Power reduced its shop count in 2023. In 2023, Paddy Power announced the shutdown of 21 more retail locations across Ireland. However, these closures were due to the fact that the company determined that the shops in question were not performing well enough. Just like now, Paddy Power vowed to support those affected by the changes and redeploy as many workers as realistically feasible. The company also emphasized that the closures were in no way related to the work of Paddy Power employees there.

Flutter to close up to 100 UK betting shops.

Flutter to close up to 100 UK betting shops. Decision follows dramatic loss following highre tax despite revenue gains. UK betting company Flutter Entertainment has said it could be forced to close up to 100 Paddy Power betting shops in the UK and Ireland, with 400 jobs at risk due to tax increases. The number equates to about a fifth of the company's estate of betting shops. It owns 310 betting shops in the UK and 196 in Ireland. It closed 57 stores in October. A Flutter spokesperson said: "We are incredibly proud of our high street estate, and it remains a key part of our business in communities across the UK and Ireland. Unfortunately, we have had to take the extremely difficult decision to conduct this review." "The high street trading environment has been challenging for a number of years given rising costs, fierce competition, economic uncertainty and the shift to online, but we also face a material impact from the higher gambling taxes announced in last year's UK Budget. Our immediate priority at this time is to support those colleagues affected by this announcement." Remote gaming duty (RGD) levied on online games was doubled last year, with Flutter saying back then it expected an impact of $320m on earnings this year. Flutter reported a loss of $296m in its second quarter from a profit of $37m a year earlier, despite revenues growing by four per cent in the UK and Ireland to $971m. Connect with author. Paddy Power considering closure of 100 betting shops.

Paddy Power considering closure of 100 betting shops. September 4, 2026 Flutter Entertainment has revealed that it's reviewing up to 100 Paddy Power betting shops in the UK and Ireland for potential closure, with around 400 jobs expected to be affected by the shutdowns. The review comes as the operator faces higher gambling taxes and rising costs for its retail business, and the shops currently under review could close before the end of 2026, although Flutter hasn't confirmed which locations could be affected. At the moment, Flutter operates 506 Paddy Power shops, of which 310 are in the UK, and 196 are located in Ireland. A Flutter spokesperson shared: "We are incredibly proud of our high street estate, and it remains a key part of our business in communities across the UK and Ireland. Unfortunately, we have had to take the extremely difficult decision to conduct this review. Our immediate priority at this time is to support those colleagues affected by this announcement." The company also pointed to higher operating costs, including rents, energy, employment, and business rates, as factors putting pressure on betting shops. Paddy Power employs more than 2,300 people, but the betting shop closures are expected to affect around a fifth of the operator's retail estate in both markets. The company further shared that it would work to redeploy staff members in cases where it's possible.
