About the company

Cleo Robotics makes autonomous, palm-sized ducted drones for inspecting dangerous and confined spaces. The Dronut X1 and DD1 use a sealed, collision-tolerant bi-rotor design with LiDAR, a 4K camera, and 3D point cloud data, powered by a Snapdragon processor to navigate and collect data in GPS-denied indoor environments like tanks and crawl spaces. They stand out from competitors with their ducted, crash-tolerant design and indoor/GPS-denied capabilities, targeting industrial inspection, law enforcement, and defense customers including the US Army. The company aims to remove the need for human entry into hazardous environments by replacing risky inspections with robotic data capture.

What believers are saying

  • July 2025 DD1 launch added improved sensors, AI navigation, and quieter operation.
  • IQT’s July 2025 strategic investment validated Cleo for national-security buyers.
  • May 2026 NAVSEA sole-source purchase confirms defense demand for Dronut DD1.

What critics are saying

  • May 2026 NAVSEA spending totaled only $52,105, signaling tiny program traction.
  • Public funding remains $120K total, leaving Cleo dependent on narrow customer wins.
  • If larger drone vendors replicate enclosed indoor autonomy, Cleo’s standalone category disappears.

What makes Cleo Robotics unique

  • DD1’s enclosed bi-rotor design enables safe flight around people in tight spaces.
  • Cleo sells GPS-denied indoor ISR hardware with LiDAR, 4K video, and autonomy.
  • Made in the USA, NDAA-compliant positioning targets defense and government procurement.
