Cirrus Logic guides Q2 gross margin to 52-54% amid pricing pressure and supply-chain costs

Cirrus Logic reported a non-GAAP gross margin of 52.7% for its fiscal first quarter 2027, down sequentially due to anticipated pricing reductions, though cost cuts partially offset the decline. Year-over-year, the margin rose slightly on favourable product mix, despite higher freight and supply-chain costs. For the fiscal second quarter, the company expects gross margin between 52% and 54%. Management noted a temporary benefit from lower-cost wafers purchased under prior GlobalFoundries agreements, which will largely sell through this quarter before margins normalise. Cirrus has secured a new wafer supply agreement with GlobalFoundries covering 2027 and 2028, ensuring dedicated capacity and pricing. The company plans aggressive cost reductions and targeted price increases to address input-cost pressures whilst maintaining its long-term gross-margin outlook.

Cirrus Logic stock down 27% as PC delays hit, but $761M cash flow funds ongoing buyback

Cirrus Logic stock has dropped about 27% in three months, trading roughly a third below its 52-week high. The decline follows management's August announcement that PC expectations for fiscal 2027 had decreased due to constrained supply, memory shortages, and OEM delays on new models. Despite the setback, the company continues its share buyback programme, which reduced share count by 2.3% over the past year. Over three years, net income grew 45.5% annually whilst earnings per share increased 49.9%, with the gap attributable to share repurchases. Free cash flow covers the buyback more than twice over, with no outstanding debt. The payout equals about 2.8% of market value annually after netting stock compensation. The stock trades at roughly 14 times trailing earnings. However, concentration remains a concern, with one customer driving the core business whilst diversification efforts are still early stage.

Cirrus Logic posts record $459.7M revenue but cuts PC outlook on platform delays

Cirrus Logic reported record first-quarter revenue of $459.7 million, up 13% year over year, with non-GAAP earnings per share of $1.84. High-performance mixed-signal revenue climbed 26% to $210.7 million, driven by expanded smartphone content across camera, battery and power applications. However, the company cut its fiscal 2027 PC segment outlook. CEO John Forsyth cited constrained platform supply, memory shortages and pricing pressure, which prompted OEMs to delay new model launches. Those delayed models typically carry higher Cirrus Logic content and volume. The company holds $1.2 billion in cash with no debt and generated $598.6 million in operating cash flow over 12 months. Cirrus Logic repurchased $34.5 million in shares during the quarter and another $50.5 million afterward.
