The NFL Blueprint: Inside the 2026 American Bowl

The NFL blueprint: inside the 2026 American Bowl. 17 Feb 2026 By Tyler Schuster How the American Bowl leveraged Hudl and Hudl IQ to transform draft prospects into pro-ready talent in just one week. The inaugural 2026 American Bowl in Lakeland, Florida, wasn't just a football game; it was a high-speed laboratory for the future of professional scouting. With over 100 draft-eligible prospects descending on Victory Field, the pressure to evaluate, coach, and platform these athletes in just one week was immense. To pull it off, the American Bowl partnered with Hudl, utilizing Hudl IQ to turn a firehose of raw data into actionable insights. Here is how that partnership helped launch a new era for all-star exhibitions. A platform for future NFL talent. The 2026 American Bowl serves a singular purpose: giving NFL prospects a final, high-definition stage to prove they belong at the next level. For the 100+ athletes invited to Lakeland, this week isn't just about a game - it's about the work required to climb the draft board. "We have a wealth of NFL knowledge here by way of coaches who are here for one reason. That's to help you access the NFL and learn what it is to be a pro." Brian Billick, Head Coach of the Guardians By assembling the nation's top talent and putting them under the direction of NFL-caliber coaching, the American Bowl creates a professional environment where "Day 3" prospects can showcase "Day 1" habits. Executive Director Scott Phillips emphasized that the bowl was built to provide a stage where the nation's best could crash pads and prove their worth against elite competition. As Talent Evaluator Christian Covyeau put it, "This is their opportunity for their dreams, and Hudl is helping us realize them." How Hudl powered the 2026 American Bowl. Traditional coaching used to be limited by how fast you could "cut the film." At the 2026 American Bowl, those barriers were erased. The staff operated at an NFL tempo, ensuring that every minute on the field was backed by ten minutes of digital review. * The 90-Minute Rule: "Get off the field. 90 minutes later, the film is right there. All tagged up to watch, teach, coach," said Scott Phillips. "It's the first year I've ever been able to say that we can run it the way that NFL practices actually run." * The Digital Mandate: Coach Billick noted that today's "digital native" players learn differently. "If you cannot communicate with them digitally, visually, you can't communicate, you can't teach." * The "Eye in the Sky": The film allowed players to own their mistakes and visualize success. By reviewing practice reps on their devices immediately after, athletes could gain "mental reps" that saved their bodies while sharpening their minds. How Hudl IQ helped scouts see more. The partnership with Hudl IQ changed the evaluation game by cutting through what Billick calls an "avalanche of information" to find the specific bits of data that are actually actionable. "We actually picked certain players in this game exclusively because we saw the speeds they were moving at... we were able to isolate that down to a number and make a decision." Scott Phillips, Executive Director GPS Tracking - Confirmed "game speed" (like a player hitting over 22.5 MPH) over "track speed." Instant Tagging - Allowed NFL scouts to watch clips on their devices right after practice. Analytics with Context - Contextualized performance against elite competition. Christian Covyeau noted that the ability to have video and data side-by-side was the "wow" moment of the week. Instead of searching through hours of tape, scouts could "cold-call" a specific play - like an inside zone run or a deep post - and see the data validate the athlete's athleticism instantly. Evaluating the game through insight. The 2026 American Bowl proved that when you combine elite athletic talent with professional-grade technology, the results are undeniable. By leveraging Hudl and Hudl IQ, the event didn't just host a game - it built a high-definition bridge to the NFL.

WeCOACH and Hudl Team Up to Launch National Women Coaches Day

WeCOACH and Hudl team up to launch National Women Coaches Day. February 11, 2026 WeCOACH, a nonprofit organization with a mission to recruit, advance, and retain women coaches across all sports and levels, has teamed up with Hudl, the global leader in performance analysis technology, to announce the launch of National Women Coaches Day (NWCD), an annual observance to celebrate, honor, support, and develop women in coaching. The initiative will be observed each year on March 7 (3/7), selected as a tribute to the 37 words that comprise the Title IX law. National Women Coaches Day honors the powerful influence of women coaches who lead, mentor, and inspire the next generation of athletes and is a commitment to building a future where women coaches belong and thrive in every coaching arena. The day is also intended to raise awareness of the need for more women in coaching roles. "National Women Coaches Day is more than a celebration - it's a call to action. Women coaches shape the culture of sport, develop confident leaders, and inspire generations. On this day and every day, WeCOACH is committed to ensuring women not only enter the profession, but thrive, lead, and stay. We're proud to champion this movement with Hudl and the incredible women who make an impact on and off the field," said Vanessa Fuchs, CEO of WeCOACH. Despite decades of growth in girls' and women's sport participation following the passage of Title IX, research from the NCAA Demographics Database, the Aspen Institute's Project Play, and the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport shows that women remain significantly underrepresented in coaching leadership. In 1972, more than 90% of women's collegiate teams were coached by women. Today, women coach 41% of women's teams across all three NCAA divisions. Women of color lead only 7% of NCAA women's teams and 1% of men's teams. At the youth level, women coaches accounted for 26% in 2022. "At Hudl, we're right there with coaches and athletes every day, so we see the difference women coaches make at every level. Beyond being leaders on the sideline, they're role models in their communities," Hudl SVP of Product Michelle Henry said. "We're proud to partner with WeCOACH to ensure women coaches receive the recognition, resources and support needed to make impacts that extend far beyond Women's Coaches Day." The annual observance of National Women Coaches Day will engage athletes, coaches, administrators, parents, and sports organizations in conversations around equity, leadership, and access to professional development opportunities for women coaches. "Great women coaches see not only where their teams are - but what they can become. They recognize potential, demand growth, and bring out the best in others," said Carol "Hutch" Hutchins, the winningest coach in NCAA softball history and longtime University of Michigan coach who retired in 2022. That forward-looking leadership is echoed by legendary volleyball coach Sharon Clark, who said "Great women coaches lead with clarity of vision - and the ability to bring others with them toward something bigger." Clark won 368 games at Butler University, the most in program history, and led as the AVCA President in 2020 & 2021. As part of the inaugural observance, WeCOACH will host a Regional Workshop on March 7, 2026, in Tampa, Florida. The one-day event will offer professional growth and leadership development programming for current and aspiring women coaches across youth, scholastic, collegiate, and club sports. Participants can register for the event here. The date March 7 was selected as a tribute to the 37 words of Title IX, the federal civil rights law prohibiting sex-based discrimination in federally funded education programs. While Title IX expanded education and participation opportunities for women and girls, coaching leadership has not kept pace.
